El Presidente Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 I have some boxes coming in (a few weeks away). No idea on pricing. Has anyone tried one? Would love to hear your thoughts on this Short Robusto.
stargazer14 Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 We have a thread going on these in Cheap & Cheerful you might check out, there are some notes from folks who tried them. I'd be interested in trying some myself, but it's up to you let 'em lose Rob!
stargazer14 Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 Listen to you Shlomo, weren't you the one who said there was no such thing as C&C's?...
El Presidente Posted February 22, 2013 Author Posted February 22, 2013 Hey noob, run a search... http://www.friendsof...79&hl=favoritos Hardly a plethora of information
stargazer14 Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 If you wanted a plethora we'd post the reviews in the Review Section, you are in C&C's - the reviews are cheap too!

ewipper Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 I have some boxes coming in (a few weeks away). No idea on pricing. Has anyone tried one? Would love to hear your thoughts on this Short Robusto. First 10 or 20 puffs come in sweet, but the cigar smokes raw the rest of the way down. About what you would expect for the price, but to be honest, I would prefer to smoke a LFDC PC. I smoke very slowly, but this one may prefer abuse to hold it together.
cigcars Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 Okay, Captain Quintero - you're needed here!
CaptainQuintero Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 Mine are just coming out from their rest from their trip! Next day that does have sideways hail will get one up and reviewed
AndrewNR Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 I'm pretty keen on getting a box of Quintero's for nostalgias sake rob.. Looking forwakrd to recommendations on them and feelings on this one.. I tend to lean towards the thinner medium sized cigars for time and just smokeability..
BonVivant Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 Yes, yes...my mistake thinking C&Cs stood for Cuban cigars..lol I was actually confused and a bit irritated to see so many people talking about Cuban cigars and typing C&C instead of CC....Ha These cigars are readily available from a grey market vendor for 50-60 Euros for 25, depending on packaging - BTW, is this C&C thread? The cigars are what you paid for =
mazolaman Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 These are a good Cheapie. Quite floral all the way down, bitterish at the last, but not too bad. The flavours did remind me of a D4. Holds Together well for a short filler, no mouth full of bits. I've smoked worse for 3x the price.
stargazer14 Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 Its an interesting brand and I look forward to trying the Favoritos. I have been finding my Brevas to be very good, but my slightly more expensive (expensive being very relative when speaking of Quintero) Londres Extras are barely smokable.
LGC Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 This sounds like it might make a good fishing smoke. The problem I have with most cheapies is that I can't get any flavor out of them.

Your best bet for fishing smokes is to keep finding young Ramon Allones regionals, like the one they did for Portugal or stick with Partagas D5s. It's what I call the parking lot at the Jets game cigars.
stargazer14 Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 Thats me last weekend on the beach in FL with a Quint Brevas in my mouth - "If the waves make a splash, have Quintero as your stash!" Smoking a 1966 while fishing sounds romantic but is just plain dumb.
David67 Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 I'll probable get some of these when they come out.

Geo17pip Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 Ok so I came home today and found a package. Favoritos Nov12. All I can say is, you get what you pay for. Some look good with good construction, others look crappy. They smell of Cuban tobacco with some ammonia, nothing amazing. I'm going to sacrifice one this weekend and report back my findings. BTW I took them out of the original packaging and put them in a cedar box. That might help with their aging lol
AndrewNR Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 Hmm they look pretty good I think.. whats the size on them?
AndrewNR Posted February 23, 2013 Posted February 23, 2013 Yikes they're a bigger size then.. I'm thinking something on the smaller size.. although I did have and enjoy a choix supreme not so long ago and apparently thats a similar size?
CaptainQuintero Posted February 23, 2013 Posted February 23, 2013 The sizes vary wildly in my box from 48ish to 52ish, and the length is out by about half a cm on some, I wouldn't have it any other way They are roughly a robusto. I can't wait to try mine! More excited about these than any of the el from 2012 or 2013 LOL
Bartolomeo Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 Had one of mine yesterday, flavorful and cheap, worth the money and glad I picked up some as well Bart
karmaz00 Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 cant wait to try min, just got some in as well
