cigcars Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 errr… No. There is no cuban leaf in Cortes, Villiger, Willlem, etc. Villiger, Willem II, Olifant, J. Cortes & some others produce blends intended for their regular international market that DO contain Cuban leaf - and the blends for the American market w/out Havana tobacco as per the legal requirements. If you're looking at the tobacco makeup for U.S. market, no you won't find Cuban tobacco being among the ingredients. For the Netherlands, England, Spain, Switzerland, etc. it does.
mkz Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 Also the Canary Islands cigar production imports cuban tobacco for their blends. Old stuff from CA, but worth reading (even though its our friend Suckling writing )... http://www.cigaraficionado.com/webfeatures/show/id/The-Canary-Island-Connection_7411
CaptainQuintero Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 The quality exported for these cigars usually falls into the 'bellybutton fluff' category of graded tobacco from my experience with them. The stuff that gets rejected for use in cigarettes etc
sengjc Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 Apparently the early releases of the Villiger 1888 contained some Cuban leaf in its blend make up. Not sure now nor how they managed to get their hands on Cuban leaf since Habanos SA is supposedly has the monopoly on Cuban tobacco.
