Matteye Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 Anyone have any knowledge of good places in either of these cites to pick up some good sticks?
Trent0341 Posted October 28, 2012 Posted October 28, 2012 I was in both of those places a couple of years ago. Most of my time was in Florence. I asked around repeatedly but never found a place even remotely worth coming back to. Didn't spend much time in Venice. I didn't find a place there either all though it seems I've read recently of a decent place in Venice. I know I'm not much help to you. Best of luck and enjoy yourself.
mazolaman Posted October 28, 2012 Posted October 28, 2012 Interesting, I'll be in Florence soon myself, so will try and find something...but so far in Southern Italy, I have found nothing of interest.... Ps I anyone knows of anywhere in Rome, please let me know..
GernBlansten Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 Ps I anyone knows of anywhere in Rome, please let me know.. There is an LCDH there. Via Colonna Antonina 34 Ph: 39.06 678 5508
mazolaman Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 There is an LCDH there. Via Colonna Antonina 34 Ph: 39.06 678 5508 Excellent, thanks. I'll post if I find anything in Florence.
mazolaman Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 SO I found Fincata in Rome, the LCDH..but it was closed...bugger.. It seems to be the place for Habanos, but like all of Rome..it won't be cheap! You can also pick up cigars in the Tabbachi, possibly not the quality or as well kept though.
mazolaman Posted November 6, 2012 Posted November 6, 2012 We wnadered round the beautiful city of Florence today, but did not find a specific cigar shop, but many tabbachi sell cigars. Smoking one in the equally beautiful city of Lucca as we speak, slightly dry.....from a tabbachi... Everything in Venice will cost far more than it should...
GernBlansten Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 SO I found Fincata in Rome, the LCDH..but it was closed...bugger.. BAH! What a bummer! I am sorry that happened. Though I have to admit, I more than slightly jealous you're in Italy.
Matteye Posted November 8, 2012 Author Posted November 8, 2012 Thanks for all of your help. Leaving tomorrow so I guess I'll have to quiz the locals when I get there. Cheers!
mazolaman Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 BAH! What a bummer! I am sorry that happened. Though I have to admit, I more than slightly jealous you're in Italy. We're very lucky. I loved Italy, but what's not to like...lovely land, friendly people, great food, history...even in the rain we loved it. There's definitely a market for a few good cigar shops though. Things are still very traditional, and traditionally tabbachi sell cigars, so that's the way it is. Nice to be somewhere still traditional though. Enjoy your trip Monicatti...I'd recommend Montepulciano, and Lucca as excursions while you are there, but it's all pretty lovely round there!
Dimmers Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 Maz, we are in Italy (Florence) at the moment and also loving it all. Day trip to Luccaa tomorrow and off to Rome on Sunday. An awesome place!
mazolaman Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 Maz, we are in Italy (Florence) at the moment and also loving it all. Day trip to Luccaa tomorrow and off to Rome on Sunday. An awesome place! Good for you mate...my wife's neck had a spring action in Lucca, as there are so many posh boutiqes for her to lust after! The old town is exceptionaly pretty, as is walking the walls.. Some reasonably good tabbachi there too, for a cigar or two. Hope you enjoy Italy as much as I did, sounds like you already are, cheers, Kevin.
Kangaroo495 Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 Just checking in whether perhaps anything decent has opened up in Florence or Rome. Will be there next week! Anyone been there recently with anything to report? If I manage to find something, I'll report back here.
Puros Y Vino Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 There is an LCDH there. Via Colonna Antonina 34 Ph: 39.06 678 5508 Contact them ahead of time. One year I went in August. There was a note on the door that they were on a 3 week vacation. A few years later I get there around 1PM to find the security gate drawn........but! It opened. They announced they were off to lunch for the next 3 hours. I talked my way in to make my purchase. They were cool about it. But to this day, I have not been able to spend more than five minutes in there to get a feel for the place. 1

So I got in touch with the LCDH in Rome and their response was: Dear K495,we are open all July. Our opening time: 10.00 am to 02.00 pm 04.00 pm to 7.30 pm Sunday and Monday morning closed Thank you, best regards Emiliano Fincato I'm hoping they sell singles though. The few LCDHs I've been to in Europe seem reluctant to sell singles in favour of boxes.
Kangaroo495 Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 So I paid a visit to LCDH Rome. Was quite a queue there as only one guy was serving and only one person could go into the humidor with him at a time. So took ages to get served. Selection seemed very standard - nothing particularly interesting available. Most people were buying Cohibas. I took the Upmann Connaisseur A and a RASS. Both were excellent. Overall - nothing special.
SaintLuis Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 I'll be in Italy for two weeks next month. Rome, Capri, Ravello, Florence. I'll definitely check out the LCDH in Rome. Any other tips? Looks like this restaurant in Rome has a cigar lounge... http://www.elitetraveler.com/finest-dining/restaurant-guide/the-10-best-restaurants-in-rome/2
