Ryan Posted October 23, 2012 Author Posted October 23, 2012 Niiiiiiiiiiice - you sure know how to rain on my upcoming trip Andy, they could've waited a few weeks ..... Sorry about that Nino! I don't know what they're thinking putting Cohiba prices up 30%.. Poor timing indeed for the Partagas festival.
BrotherBear Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 Niiiiiiiiiiice - you sure know how to rain on my upcoming trip Andy, they could've waited a few weeks ..... I guess the rumour was true after all... I sure wish this is one of those rare times our friend was wrong.
Puros Y Vino Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 That's a huge jump. Perhaps their timing was in fact for the Partagas Festival?
Strada Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 Niiiiiiiiiiice - you sure know how to rain on my upcoming trip Andy, they could've waited a few weeks ..... X2

Canadahamlet Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 They wil be very likely forcing an increase and decrease in availability of custom cigars as well. Nino I hope it happens after your trip!
ckearns Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 Niiiiiiiiiiice - you sure know how to rain on my upcoming trip Andy, they could've waited a few weeks ..... X2 X3. Holding off until November 26th would have been nice. It would be great to have more information on changes if you get any, Andy. Cheers.
Nino Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 They wil be very likely forcing an increase and decrease in availability of custom cigars as well. Nino I hope it happens after your trip! Don't give me yet more negative vibes, man ....
teking24 Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 A question for those of you who've been around CCs longer then I. How long until this price increase effects the price of off-island vendors?
Blakes Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 Are these price increases exclusive to cuba (wishfull thinking) or everywhere will soon have them?
IcedCanuck Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 That is a rather hefty increase in price. If off island prices increase 30% I might have to find myself a new hobby .... just saying.
Orion21 Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 Those Cuba prices are now as high as some current vendor pricing. The vendor pricing changes are going to come as a shock to 99% of people buying cigars. The CoRos will be over $400 a box based on a Cuba price of $340!!!!
El Presidente Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 At this point there has been no notification of price increases from distributors. They normally play their cards pretty close to their chest however so no guarantees. Unless I am mistaken, the Divans in Cuba (Partagas), Melia etc come under the control of Habanos s.a. The exception is R&J. The factories are all owned by Tabacuba. The price increase looks like a realignment of in-Cuba retail prices to closer reflect Duty Free worldwide. That is opinion only, no fact.
Dara Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 It might be cheaper to bring my own smoke to the Partagas!!!!
Strada Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 It might be cheaper to bring my own smoke to the Partagas!!!! That is what I am thinking also lol

Canadahamlet Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 Are these price increases exclusive to cuba (wishfull thinking) or everywhere will soon have them? The price increase has been in the works for several months, In June I was told it was likely going to happen to factory cigars as well as to custom rolled cigars. Back in June though it was just a rumour. The sole reason, I am told, is from Habanos's desire to sell more cigars.......I am told Habanos is not party to the retailing or income from cigars sold inside Cuban. People, including gray marketers, were buying in bulk in Cuba where the prices were significantly lower. This increase should not affect prices outside of Cuba, but will, assuming demand remains the same, drive sales for Habanos dealers who are all outside of Cuba. This was what I was told. Rob's opinion is the same I have been told from my Cuban sources. . Nino, your positive energy will overcome any negative waves. I LMAO at your poster!!! I have been told by my Cuban source there will be no change in custom rolled cigars until after the Flying Cigar has left the Island! 20% increase is what they are hearing as well as making harder to get tobacco to reduce volume. The "custom rolled factories" at Partagas and Conde will have some scrambling to do. All this to drive more sales through Habanos dealers.
El Presidente Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 Then the possibility still exists that is the pricing for the general public and distributors will continue to have the same pricing structure? The possibility certainly exists. Not sure about the probability !LOL! The in-cuba price increases appear to be 15% non Cohiba, 30% Cohiba. Came into effect last Thursday.
El Presidente Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 The "custom rolled factories" at Partagas and Conde will have some scrambling to do. All this to drive more sales through Habanos dealers. They are both "masters" of the "scramble" !LOL!
rfenst Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 Well, if it is true and there is another price hike across the board, I can further justify to my wife that my collection is an "investment" for the kids' college!
