El Presidente Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 I have done this many times with good results for cigars a "tad" too tight. By the way I am a "Pitcher" not a worker....I don't tolerate tight or plugged cigars. Cut a Partagas Serie D 5 and while not plugged it was "annoyingly" tight. Placed it in the fridge on the Czar Deck for 90 minutes while I thoroughly enjoyed a RA Celestiales Finos (how good are these currently!). Anyway...back 90 minutes later and the D5 is perfect. Smoking great. If you haven't done it before, try it.
SerieT Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 decreased tempurature in the cigar loosened it up? interesting
El Presidente Posted October 22, 2012 Author Posted October 22, 2012 decreased tempurature in the cigar loosened it up? interesting I think also that the fridge takes out a little of the H20 component. Min Ron Nee would be appalled
Guest rob Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 Definitely works by reducing the cigar's moisture content...
El Presidente Posted October 22, 2012 Author Posted October 22, 2012 Definitely works by reducing the cigar's moisture content... What I love Rob is that it does it quickly
Rushman Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 Makes sense. Now if only I had a freezer at the shop! --- I am here: http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=20.631733,-87.070639

Smallclub Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 Min Ron Nee would be appalled Rob, Min Ron Nee talked about this trick on ICC forum, in 2008 I think. I've tried it successfully on my last Upmann Grand Coronas that were very tight…
hdryder Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 Good to hear. I have a box of Punch Black Prince from 2000 that out of the 4 I have smoke 2 had very tight draws. Going to give this a try when I get home.

Blakes Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 Thanks for the tip... Just had 3 Luci's out of 1 box in a row that have been tight. Shame becuase the first couple where outstanding!
canadianbeaver Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 While I have you on the line, Rob, found this photo today... Cool REAL Champagne, in Paris.
Squarehead Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 Now you're telling me after I tossed some PL's.
asmith Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 While I have you on the line, Rob, found this photo today... Cool REAL Champagne, in Paris. We have a humidor full of Ayala champagne bottles, we also had a dozen Ayala champagne flutes but like any glassware around the office they have all been broken.
nikesupremedunk Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 Good to know Rob. But most of the times I find that it's too tight after i light it up...
headstand Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 Clarification please . Rob said fridge, but Rushman is wishing for a freezer. So which is it? Thanks.
SurpriseMVP Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 If this works 99-01 just might become good years?
maverickdrinker Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 very interesting. I wonder if is a side benefit of freezing cigars. I have found that I haven't had any draw problems with cigars that I have put in the deep freeze before adding them to the humidor.... Thanks for sharing Rob.
David67 Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 I'm surprised by this. I would have thought that a fridge would keep would have kept moisture in, as moisture evaporates in heat. I do know that cigars that totally dry out become very plugged. Anyway will try it out. By the way Rob, what made you think of doing it in the first place?
El Presidente Posted October 23, 2012 Author Posted October 23, 2012 By the way Rob, what made you think of doing it in the first place? My friends, Johnny and Walker put the idea in my head late one afternoon. I should point out other ideas they have supplied have not been so fruitful
El Presidente Posted October 23, 2012 Author Posted October 23, 2012 Clarification please . Rob said fridge, but Rushman is wishing for a freezer. So which is it? Thanks. I have used both. Depends how patient I am. Freezer for 30 minutes is fine. Cigars are surprisingly tough and resilient little buggers.
