ptrthgr8 Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 Hi, folks. Last week the wifey and I made the trek from Grand Forks, North Dakota, to Carter, Montana (north a bit from Great Falls, for anyone familiar with MT) to pick up our 8 week old Weimaraner puppy. It was a ~1500 mile round trip. We left around 9am Thursday, got to Fort Benton a little after 9pm local (crossed into the Mountain time zone, so it was actually a 13 hour drive),spent the night at the Grand Union hotel, got to the breeder's place in Carter about 9am on Friday, and started the drive back a little after 10am on Friday. We got back to Grand Forks a little after 1am on Saturday (14 hour trip - crossed back into the Central time zone). It was a helluva lot of driving in such a short period of time, but the effort was absolutely worth it. The new puppy's name is Remington. (His dad's name is Colt, so it seemed more than appropriate.) We call him Remy for short. He's going to be my pheasant dog at some point - he'll go to bird dog camp next spring/summer once he's old enough. But for now he's my little velvety ball of happiness. He's so freakin' cute I can hardly stand it! Some pics of Remy: It's been a while since I had been through the SW part of North Dakota. We stopped a few times on the way back to let little puppy legs stretch and whatnot and took the time to snap some pics of the scenery while we were there. Sometimes I forget how gorgeous some of North Dakota is - I live on the eastern side of the state, which was scrubbed flat by a glacier a bazillion years ago. The Badlands are just plain cool. Here are some pics of the view along the way back: Cheers, ~ Greg ~

ptrthgr8 Posted October 10, 2012 Author Posted October 10, 2012 Congratulations...now your have a friend who will bring a smile to your face every day. Enjoy We've got two 8 1/2 year old Beagles (brother and sister) who've been bringing smiles to our faces for a while now, but little Remy will certainly add to that. Not to mention it's fun watching the Beagles adjust to Remy. "What the hell is that?" seems to be something they're asking a lot.
