It seems it's a challenging week in cigar land. The other day another forum was suddenly shut down in a frantic move that seems a result of the new Australian Internet legislation banning anything that could be associated with promoting tobacco consumption.

Many of us are left scratching our heads there, and now we see that FOH has been sold off... With questions remaining of what the future bodes for this place???

As I quietly sipped on a nice bottle of red (and pondered how it'd look in plain packaging) I can't help but wonder what the heck is wrong with the world and the people that run it.

I have recently found myself on the wrong side of 30 so maybe I'm getting a tad emotional, sorry folks!

Peace

Where did you hear sold off? Rob Ayala owns the forum now and always has! The site is being updated for the better, but I don't know where you heard the rumours.

FOH as of yesterday has been sold offshore. It is no longer an Australian website but an international website based in both Switzerland and HK.

We wish the new owners (Sven and LFK) tremendous success. I am sure we will be working closely with them

Can you elaborate further on some of your points please?

Another forum I was a member of suddenly disappeared on Thursday, was loosely sponsored by a distributor of cigars. They didn't really promote their cigars a whole heck on the forum but still saw it as something potentially damaging to their business I guess. Had a cigar pass progress that who knows what wil come of that.

Secondly, and most likely related to the practical need in relation to the Australian Internet Tobacco Legislation, Rob mentioned something about a change of ownership of the FOH forum in the "LFTH funeral" thread.

After a few glasses of a nice Shiraz was kinda feeling pretty melancholy about the last week of cigar goings on here in the communist republic of Australia.

Guys, not everything is always what it seems. Have a little faith!

^^^ this. There had to be a strategy to get around the changes in packaging/retail laws in such a premium business based on image as cigars.

Am i to understand:

International customers make their purchases as normal on the czar website and it will come via one of the new offshore hubs?

Sorry if i seem detached from current affairs on the forum. Any help and insight is much appreciated.
