I have zero experience with Dip No. 4s, and about equal experience with 2001 production. From what I've read and hear, 2001 was a bust in terms of quality.

I have an opportunity to get my hands on a box of Dip 4s from 2001. The question is: should I? They are priced right, and pretty affordable.

Suggestions...... Thanks in advance.

Pick up some Dip 1/2/3/5s and see if you like them. I personally find there to be a very definite and specific 'general Dip profile' that is present in all the vitolas, maybe more so than any other marca. If you don't like the other Dips you probably won't be jumping for joy over the 4's.

^^^ This sounds like great advice. Dips do nothing for me so a 2001 or 2011 would not matter. If this cigar is one you like, it would be worth the $ to try.

Will be easy to ditch if you end up not liking them...

I just love dip 4 I have a box for 08 and would just loooooove to get some from 01, and if you don't like them you can always trade them...to some one who just loooooove them

absolutely - chances are the box could be good to great, the cigar when "on" was one of my favorites.....would kill for some now

I'm finishing up a box of 2001 Diplo #3s. Great draw & construction but far too mild for my taste. My Fonseca #1s are considerably stronger. 06 Diplo #4s are a very nice medium bodied smoke.

I'll say the same for the '07 production.....I say go for it.As has been said, you won't lose an awful lot even in the very worst of cases. But the overall cost vs potential benefit equation is in your favour,in my opinion.
