Musicians on FOH

Recommended Posts

I see some references to musicians on posts and user names. Just curious how many musicians are out there and what they play and do with music.

I've played guitar for 30+ years and play in 2 bands. One in Indiana where I live and one in Illinois where I used to live. With the exception of a few years off I have played live music since I was 15.

Fender Telecasters are my favorite guitars although I own several others. I have a bit of an addiction to guitars, and fine cigars!

Here are a few pics of some of my guitars.

Studying jazz in Wellington nz, bassist with focus in double bass, but also Play guitar (electric/acoustic) and a bit of piano an drums. Jazz is just one of many passions though, love making and playing electro house music with huge drops and death metal. Haha music is my lifeblood!

Been playing guitar for about 16+ years. I have two six string electric guitars and one seven string, two classical guitars, one acoustic that is a complete warped POS, and one bass guitar. I'd post a pic but I'm at work right now. My amps are crap and as soon as I buy a house and get out of apartment living I'd like to pick up a Mesa Boogie stack!

I also played the tenor sax for about two years, piano for maybe six months, I can keep very simple beats on the drums, and played the recorder for two years but that shouldn't really count.

Bass guitar since 1975. I play a Rickenbacker 4001 & Gibson Grabber. Played clubs from 1975-2006. Still regularly play with a couple groups of musicians for fun, including one guitarist I've been with since 1975. We'll do a couple college shows or block parties a year, but mostly now just jamming at my house, where I have a full PA & drum kit set up. We play mostly blues & classic rock, but also work in reggae, country & bluegrass, plus different styles of original song. Playing keeps me feeling young. Anyone near Philly is welcome to jam.

Never, ever, would I think of myself as a musician but I play a little blues harp.

One of the best presents my wife ever gave me was a small, rebuilt vintage reverb amp. And the bullet mic to go with it. Watch out,Charlie Musselwhite. I brought a bunch of harps with me to Paris but left the amp in NYC.

Shower Singer.

Karaoke doesn't count

My ex was into karaoke, drove me f'n nuts ... hate that **** with a major league passion. Most of her friends are also into it big time and thought it was weird that I dislike it as much as I do. I kept trying to explain that they are the weird ones for liking it!

Drums, guitar, and electric bass and upright bass. I have been playing instruments since early grade school and was fortunate to be brought up in a home where music was- and is- important and celebrated. These days I fool with the upright more than anything. It is a fantastic instrument.

Been playing the drums for 15+ years. I have a 6 piece DW kit that I absolutely love. It looks gorgeous and wish I had the room to have it set up all the time. Also play guitar, bass, and the piano. Was a music major in college for a year or so but the aural perception portion of it all was to difficult with the hearing loss from being a drummer for so long without wearing any type of ear protection. Now I play mainly for my church on Sundays but with going back to school, working and getting ready for the new baby, I haven't been able to play much.

Been playing guitar for 15 years just for personal satisfaction. Own 4 guitars, 1 acoustic ibanez and 3 electric fender stratocasters

My favourite being my black strat which I put together myself as a Dave Gilmour copy.

Fender blues jr tube amp and many pedals

Nothing better after a hard days work than sitting down with beer and thinking I'm David Gilmour (i said thinking)

Then after a good jam session relax with a Jack Daniels and Cuban cigar :cigar:

Does life get any better :daydream:

i play guitar. in my "prime" i played bars almost weekly, including a couple shows at the Horseshoe (a legend here in Toronto). nowadays it's mostly acoustic for the kids at home, though I do still have my Les Paul Black beauty and 1965 Ampeg Gemini Amp which i use to jam periodically with friends.

Smithy told me that Rob is proficient with skin flutes then cross trained into meat whistles.

I've played bass guitar for many years and my name "jazzbass" here in this forum has nothing to do with the style of music I play, its only the name of the Fender bass I own. Never been to Australia but if you listen to country music on the radio in Australia, you've heard me play. I've had the good fortune to have been invited to record with "Jetty Road" and I played bass in the studio here in Vancouver, Canada where they recorded an album that has a few number one hits on Australian radio. I'm so proud of them and all of their success.

Now CIGARS !!! There's an obsession that has cost me Waaaay more than all musical instruments I've ever purchased.. I plan on keeping it that way too!!

Classical guitarist here, had a bad hand injury that's kept me from performing but I'm slowly getting back into it. Might look into playing some cafe gigs in the fall. Here's a somewhat bad recording;

If anyone on FoH needs a guitarist for a gig give me a call! I'll bring the cigars, LOL.

Gilmour, eh? Check out Rebuilding The Wall by Luther Wright & The Wrongs. They're a Canadian band that does the entire Wall album country & bluegrass style. It's pretty cool.

Classical piano, going through the Royal Conservatory of Music structure when I was a child/teen. Have a beautiful 1910's (?) upright grand at home that I learned to play on as a kid, something that my parents invested in when I started playing, something they found amazingly at an estate auction way back when. But, in a travesty, haven't had it tuned in over a decade, much less played it much.

My son is starting to show a definite interest in it though. Will definitely be something that I'll be looking at tuning and getting refreshed on this fall after I'm done with my training at work. Something to look forward to, to spend time with him like that.
