Miner Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 Punch 11's arrived today from the El Prez Aged Selection Seals broken pic This cab must be good, no health warnings!! Amazing smell when I broke the seal and slid back the lid All the sticks are perfect Can't wait for the first smoke. I normally wait a couple of weeks for the sticks to settle...I'm not sure about this lot though.. Cheers
OZCUBAN Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 Hi Miner Got mine today can't wait to check them out not been in long ,photos later
MrDowse Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 Nice pickup Clive, they look great! Let us know how they smoke To El Pres and the crew, i noticed the PCC Vintage Collection sticker on the Cab. Does that mean there are more boxes aging for release in the future, or was this a one off?
Charltonc Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 looks tasty. I have never had a good experience with Punch.
phidelt076 Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 You're going to love these! I have a few cabs of '99 RS11's & RS12's still laying around from the massive sales a number of years back. They have been amazing!
FrankBlack87 Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 whats with the "vintage collection" sticker... sounds kinda like PCC took all the boxes that werent selling and just came up with this marketing gem
Colt45 Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 Enjoy them, Miner - I hope you'll post a review. MrDowse - very generally, PCC puts aside boxes for approximately five years and then releases them as vintage. The good part - you know provenance/storage - but my personal feeling is you still have to be aware of overall quality.
westg Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 Yep..recieved my LG Med No 4 yesterday as well..amazing,never had this format before and they smelt like stinky cheese upon opening. The same as a box of Tainos did upon opening that I have from 01. Could not wait fired one up jumped in the car and drove around the beach with the Black Eyed Peas pumping. Living and loving it.
rfenst Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 I am eagerly waiting for my LGC4, which are flying my way! I want to hear about the draw and flavor of the Punch vitolas to decide if I should snag a box of one. I have a few Punch Coronas left form '99 or so box- and they are really great cigars, but without fruit. I haven't smoked one in a couple years, but my recollection is that they had a tiny bit of subtle meat flavor at one point through the course of the smoke...
shrink Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 The RS11's that I've had from 1999 were superb. Really flavorful, and not a bad draw in the SLB.
Smallclub Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 The RS11's that I've had from 1999 were superb. Really flavorful, and not a bad draw in the SLB. Same experience here.
Miner Posted June 29, 2012 Author Posted June 29, 2012 Must resist..... Sticks need two weeks to settle....... Jeez this is hard !! Cheers
Miner Posted June 29, 2012 Author Posted June 29, 2012 How is it heaven then? I've arrived at the place and opened the door but I haven't gone in yet !! But from the door it looks like heaven. Cheers
OZCUBAN Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 Hi all This is not a full blown review due to time constraints, more of a pictorial ,or photo essay . Firstly let me say ( miner) I never have any problems having one straight out of the box ,I know you should let them rest after transit ,and these baby's have been resting a long time, I feel by having one ROTT( right of the truck ) it gives me a good base line from which to compare. I must say the boxes seem to have been made better back in the day Box code Smooth wrapper beautiful color still quite oily despite age FIRST THIRD Nice pre light aroma mainly Cedar On lighting a very mild grassy /cedar notes woody and a toasty Tobacco taste End of first third grassy notes that were there at the beginning are now gone ,but replaced by a sweet honey flavoured fruit laced with cedar medium bodied SECOND THIRD This definitely a PUNCH those punch esque flavors abound ,woody ,and fruit flavors ( tropical ) but with that nice creamy honeyed flavors with an accompaniment of spice LAST THIRD The cigar has definitely shifted up a gear being medium to full towards the end,the honey and the cedar are still there but the fruity aspects are now gone, These Cigars have some legs on them 12 years and no end in sight Such a shame these are now gone ,only the occasional Vintage release to look forward to Glad I bought these and will make them last along with a cab of its smaller sibling the RS#12 Cheers OZ
Jnaube Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 Great review and fantastic pictures. By the way, love the ashtray!
nikesupremedunk Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 Nice "brief" review! Although I couldn't afford the box, I ordered the sampler and probably will try them ROTT. I smoked the PC sampler ROTT and it was excellent. Can't wait until next week sometime!
