markmurase Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 Rob, Sorry to hear the news about Cohiba. A good mate has gone.
Colt45 Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 You did the right thing, for the right reasons - you should take heart in that. Remember the good.
olotti Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 This is so sad to hear. Thoughts and prayers are with you at this tough time.
Daidemo Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 I am so sorry… Our German Shepard was with us for 12 years and we put him asleep 10 years ago. Hardly a day goes by without thinking about him… It is not going easier with time. Stay strong
tmac77 Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 heartfelt sympathies Rob. Had to put my Golden retriever down many years ago after having him since he was a wee pup. It's never easy but I always remember him with pleasant thoughts. Tom
Rushman Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 I am grieving for you and your family. I have been there more than once. There truly is no bond like that of a man and his dog. Since moving to PDC I adopted a street dog named Bella who is quite simply the smartest and sweetest dog I've ever known. Rest easy Cohiba! --- I am here: http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=20.631711,-87.070662
CaptainQuintero Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 Sorry to hear that Rob, I know that look. Honey my golden lab gave it to me a few years back when her legs gave out, it wasn't a sad look just one that said 'it's ok' I know she's waiting for me and probably still nicking food off people's plates upstairs I know Cohiba will still be up to his usual tricks and will be waiting for you
jtvrtas Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 I'm very sorry for your loss, Rob. You're in my thoughts and prayers.
partifan Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 My condolences. The dog I had growing up was a Chesapeake, and was the most brilliant but untrainable dog I've ever known.
Zigatoh Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 Condolences Rob, only got cats meself but they're part of the family...
dizedean Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 Rob, My sincerest condolences to you and your family. I know the heartbreak that this can bring. Take solace in the wonderful memories of all the joy and love Cohiba has brought you. Those shining memories will be with you always. Know you did the right thing for him and he is in a much better place. My deepest sympathies. Dean
AverageJoe83 Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 I'm very sorry to hear this Rob, it does truely does break the heart. I had a golden retriever, he was my companion, my hunting buddy, my confidant, and my best friend. After 10 years he got cancer, we had it removed and the vet said it would come back in 3 months or so, but life went back to normal for 18 months, then it came back. Its the hardest thing in this world to let go of a friend, to say goodbye, I wouldnt wish it on anyone. Again sorry to hear of your loss, best wishes and prayers be with you.
winelover Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 Rob, my heart goes out to you and family. Cohiba must have been a lovely dog and I fondly remember the video you posted of him bringing you smokes. I used to have a golden cocker spaniel who was an incredible character and unfortunately we had to have him put down in January last year. we have very fond memories of him but it was a very sad time.
DougB Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 My condolences to you and your family Rob. That was a truly heart-wrenching story and extremely moving. We have had to do the very same with 2 of our dogs and it is so f'ing ridiculously hard and sad...I will be thinking about you brother.
ramon_cojones Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 Such a touching story, difficult to read about a great relationship coming to an end.
Diamondog Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 No doubt one of the hardest things I have ever had to do, mine knew it was time to go and he accepted like the king he was...sorry to hear this Rob...
Habanos2000 Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 I experienced a similar end with my first dog. Such unselfish friends dogs are and what a joy to have them in our lives.
LGC Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 Dogs have a way of telling us when they are ready. Any dog owner can tell you this. I vividly remember the day I said goodbye to my friend. Animals provide us with reminders of how we should live our lives. It's hard to see this, but I believe we all receive inspiration from having them in our lives... as short as that time may feel...
UpInSmoak Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 My condolences Rob. Saying goodbye is never easy. He's in a better place now. Prayers and thoughts to you and your family.
nikesupremedunk Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 I'm so sorry to hear that Rob. As much as I would love to have a dog, I don't want to go through this so I probably won't get one. My condolences to you and your family.
cottierm Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 A beautiful dog he was... Sorry to read the bad news, Rob. However, I suspect that in a few weeks/months time your family will welcome a new puppy. All the very best, Michel
