Interview with Spain after their match, they are complaining that the pitch prevented them from winning!

*deluded!*

Actually this story has been getting some press. The pitch was slow yesterday. Michael Ballack commented on US TV that the pitch needed to be watered during the match.

Really don't get the Spain hate. Clearly one of the most attractive sides currently playing......

Italy played on the same pitch, next!

I just don't appreciate the gamesmanship Spain/Barca use, I don't believe that the way they play is the best looking football either. Sure it's technically impressive but it's bloody boring to watch. Looking at the inside of a precision made watch is impressive, but for a good time I'm not going to book a clockwork appreciate course for my Birthday :lol3:

Fireworks, ale and dancing however....

We will have to agree to disagree. Russia played one of the weakest sides in the tournament. Spain produced many chances against a strong side. They obviously miss David Villa as Torres is a mess.

My point about the pitch was that ithe condition was noted during the match. Of course Spain look better on a fast pitch. Stop hating. Just admit that you are blinded with jealousy.

England. The new catennacio!!!

Italy was probably the team that impressed me the most after the first round of matches. And being a huge nerobianco (juventus) supporter I'm glad they are doing well. Imo the azzurri and croatia will advance from group c.

I think germany will have a lot to prove in their second match, as will spain. I'm hoping that ireland can pull a chelsea on spain. Pack 10 in the box and expose their play just like chelsea did vs barca. Croatia v italia will be a cracker of a match.

Will try to bugger the French not unlike the buggering we gave them at the battle of Agincourt.

You don't even know how to spell it. It's Azincourt.

btw, your stupid post reminds me why I should never read sport threads.

I don't get the Spain hate either, I admire the ball control and high skill levels.

Yep, for now we are parking the bus in front of the goal.

Thankfully, we don't all equate a game of football to a historic battle between nations.

Unfortunately, Football has always attracted this kind of tubthumping, and I don't like it either.

I hope you continue reading, and I hope France do well.....as I have money on them....

Can't argue with you there, Italy have been the most impressive so far. Essentially playing the same way Juventus have in order to dominate Serie A this year they could go all the way. Pirlo rolling back the years!

Exactly, lots of Juve players on that team. It's exciting to watch them. Forza Azzurri!

More racism claims being investigated today, this time the Spanish FA have admitted a number of their fans were making racist chants against Balotelli

This tourny has a nasty undercurrent, some pretty disgusting people are overshadowing the football

It is now called Azincourt but not in 1415 it wasn't

group B wednesday. The Dutch are in a almost must win situation and the germans will have something to proove after a weak first game...and i think the danes will pose a threat to the portugese. should be a great day of football

Yep, football is the last bastion of the war mongering idiot, or the pissed pleb as we see currently on our telly.

Let's not get in to nationalist :cowpoop: here then.

Agree with Riaz, should be a good day for football today, The Netherlands v Germany could be one of the games of the tournament so far, with the Nethterlands needing the win.

Tonight , Germany vs.Holland.If the Dutch lose they are out. Ther Russians will surprise many.

I thought Germany were impressive tonight (just saw the match on DVR). I didn't see their first match against Portugal, but I'd been hearing a lot of negativity about their defense. They look pretty solid to me against Holland.

I would be very happy not to have to watch England again. Watching the grass grow is more exciting than the way they played against France.

Italy a playing the best football of the tournament, beautiful to watch. Pirlo has otbe the player of the tournament so far too, just oozing class.

Sad to hear the monkey chants being directed at Balotelli eveyr time he gets the ball, it sounds like it it the locals in the stadium though not eh craotian fans as there have been loud cahants of 'poland, poland'

I agree CQ. Italy is playing some of the best football of the tournament. Pirlo is just world class at the moment. Playing some of the best football of his career. 6 of the starting 11 are from juve. That makes me happy

I take that back about the local polish fans it seems to be the Croatian supporters, they are showing replays of their fans doing the Nazi salute during their anthem at the start and now they have had the match stopped by throwing flares onto the pitch..

Spanish commentators must be sick and tired of saying the word "pass". Seriously this is daft. As soon as they have the ball they are looking to pass. They have the talent to play a beautiful open game and make gorgeous runs with beautiful dribbling...but no. Pass pass pass pass pass pass pass pass pass pass pass pass pass pass shoot. Ughhhh *rant over*

On a diffrent note. Given is playing out of his mind. It could easily be 4-0 spain at this point.

Umm. Yeah. Spain is crushing. Your point?

I thought you were a Chelsea fan. What's up with the Juve blather? Pick a team son.

Oh. And stop hating on one of the best international sides in history. Cheers.

A bitter Netherlands supporter......

Watched the Eire-Spain match in my local Irish pub with a good cigar and loved it ....

It's not called foot-ball for nothing :-) pass, pass, pass, pass, drive the opponent dizzy controlling the ball and pass on to next round having played a match worth watching.

Nice warm-up for Spain.

Pass.

Gave up after half an hour of the Ireland match and took the dog for a walk, talk about boring! I was hoping Llorente would start and cause some damage but again sat warming the bench, then again he is from a Basque club, maybe the newly made Marquis doesn't want to upset Prince Felipe who was in the crowd both games :innocent:

Admire the skill and technique but christ it's boring to watch, kind of like F1 :D

Watching Bilbao this year in the cup showed how a team with the same level of technique and skill can play amazingly attractive football and still win the games. This Spain side will go down in history for it's achievements, but I won't be remembering it in the same breath as the Brazil of the 80's, 90's and 00's, Netherlands of the late 80's, West Germany of the 70's or France at the turn of the millenium.

To each their own. Firstly I am a chelsea supporter, and a juve supporter as I have both countries in my blood (father is half italian half brit, I grew up 45 mins from london in surrey) so I follow both clubs very closely.

As for spain, they are getting the job done that goes without question. What annoys me is their tactics. With the amazing talent they have I wish they would play a more exiting brand of football. That's me as a football fan. Little 5 yd passes don't do it for me. I like seeing great runs, crossing the ball to an open striker, nice ball handling, dekes, ect.

But hey who am I to dispute what they are doing. It works, they win. They are world class. Spain could probably beat most countries with their bench alone. Just for me, personally, not fun to watch.

So you missed as Del Bosque put in Javi Martinez from Basque Club Atl. Bilbao.

As for your remark about Del Bosque and politics : rubbish
