Jason55555 Posted June 4, 2012 Posted June 4, 2012 Graduating with my Masters degree this Friday (ughhhhh 5 ½ yrs of school ) I already have a nice cigar & bottle wine saved up for that day but with a grad gift coming my way I’m looking into getting a box of something either rare or collectable to keep for a long time, to celebrate occasions like this. I know the BHK’s, and 1966’s are great but looking for something extra special any ideas?????? Trying to keep it less or around 550 also, Thanks guys!
Orion21 Posted June 4, 2012 Posted June 4, 2012 Wait for the new 2012 EL's the come out. IT would be a great way to mark the year and you should be able to buy a few boxes for your budget.
Puros Y Vino Posted June 4, 2012 Posted June 4, 2012 Well. To start. Find a box with a June 2012 date of something you like. Maybe a 10'r of Siglo VI or Partagas Lusitanias. Or like Aaron says, the 2012 LE's. The Monte 520 seems to be a winner so far. I know a few that have smoked it. The LE's will probably be released fall/winter 2012. If you're lucky.
bassman Posted June 4, 2012 Posted June 4, 2012 A cabinet of 50 SLR DCs would provide memorable cigars within your price range.
frenchkiwi Posted June 4, 2012 Posted June 4, 2012 congrats. hope you got a job lined up so you don't end up smoking your rent money forget waiting around for next years ELs, the moment is the moment, you need to get a box now so you can say to your grandchildren (!) ... "I lit up my first one of these just after graduating". go for a cigar that you know is top of your list - something you've maybe had once or twice and really enjoyed - top of the line regular production. Eg double coronas, siglo VI etc as mentioned above. And make sure that particular box has got legs for ageing. A Cab of 50 might get you all the way to grandfatherhood. enjoy!
coug28 Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 Screw the ELs... Grab yourself a 50 cab of RASS. These things even young are smoking amazingly well. If not those, a 50 cab of something (Lusis, Mag 46 etc). That way youre more inclined to have one or two around to share with your future kid when he/she graduates. Now would'nt that be something!?
Jason55555 Posted June 5, 2012 Author Posted June 5, 2012 have one or two around to share with your future kid when he/she graduates. Now would'nt that be something!? Yea that's what I'm aiming for but if I could find something rare enough I would buy a smaller box congrats. hope you got a job lined up so you don't end up smoking your rent money Yes i'm actually already employed lol
Jnaube Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 I already have Siglo VI that are aged and they are tremendous after only 4 years in my humi. These cigars are awesome out of the box, you can't go wrong with them and have more for your money.
jedipastor Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 I would do three things: 1) Buy a box of one of your favorite regular production sticks with a June '12 box date. Some one every year (or when you need to remind yourself of all your accomplishments!) 2) Buy a 5-er really nice sticks that you love or have been dying to try 3) Try to buy or trade for some AGED cigars in marcas you like. Try some '99-'03 Cohibas, Partagas EL 2000 or Bolivars from '98 (my personal favorite aged sticks so far).
jacktarnold Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 I would get something that you truly like. And just say that I bought them for my graduation. I would rather smoke something really tasty than get stuck with some junk that is only special because of the event. Much better if the smoke is great and the sentiment behind the event is great.
