cottierm Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 And so as I learned it through the Shout Box this morning, the Toronto LCDH has now reopened (and I was the first one to visit the place this morning!). The walking-humidor is now located in the basement with no separation between Cohiba and the rest of the CC production anymore. The entire humidor is wood-paneled and it smells good! All the usual goodies are back (minus a few; no LGC Medaille d'Or no. 2 at the moment for instance). In addition, and for those who have the money!, they rediscovered in their warehouse one Bolivar 2002 - Centenary Dinner Humidor (containing 50 Belicosos Finos and 50 Royal Coronas), a thing of real beauty to admire if not to buy. Don't expect freebies! Nor patio! (The idea of having a patio at some point on the roof of the shop has been abandoned; anyway the roof belongs to the restaurant next door). Best, Michel PS: Sorry to have put this in the wrong forum! Too excited I suppose!
Ophidion Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 Since I am going to be at the July herf, what are the prices like? I'd imagine its pretty flat across all LCDH but I may as well ask.
cottierm Posted May 30, 2012 Author Posted May 30, 2012 In average, four times the Cuban price, Kevin. (Now you have been warned!). Best, Michel
canadianbeaver Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 Thanks for the news. No prize for being the first visitor! How ungratefully arrogant! And this is an appropriate section, after all, they are brand new, right? No patio. ;-(
cottierm Posted May 30, 2012 Author Posted May 30, 2012 Don't be too harsh with the boys, Lisa! They don't own the place and have offered me some rebates in the past (as they probably do with other regular customers). Best, Michel
riazp Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 Kev, FYI, Cigars in toronto are a bit cheaper than montreal due to sales taxes being a tad lower there. I think...
Puros Y Vino Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 Kev, FYI, Cigars in toronto are a bit cheaper than montreal due to sales taxes being a tad lower there. I think... Yes. Some cigars are $3-$6 cheaper I recall.
cottierm Posted May 30, 2012 Author Posted May 30, 2012 The same they had before closing the previous shop, I think. Julian didn't show me anything new. When I saw the special Boli humidor, I must admit that I was thinking about you as a potential buyer! Best, Michel
Puros Y Vino Posted May 31, 2012 Posted May 31, 2012 I went by this evening. It looks pretty nice. A bit sparse. The humidor is nice. That Bolivar humi and the Monte DC humidor is awesome. Box split anyone??
canadianbeaver Posted May 31, 2012 Posted May 31, 2012 I would box split Frank but a mortgage on our home would be a deal breaker on my marriage.
headstand Posted May 31, 2012 Posted May 31, 2012 If not patio, is there a lounge in which to smoke? I will be in Toronto early July and had thought to stop in.

Ophidion Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 I'll be there tonight Mose likely and would also like the location
cottierm Posted July 27, 2012 Author Posted July 27, 2012 PM sent Kevin. At what time do you plan to be there? Best, Michel PS: I should ask this LCDH for a percentage of their sales!
Puros Y Vino Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 I'll be there tonight Mose likely and would also like the location The LCDH is in an alley sandwiched between Yorkville Ave and Cumberland St. Look for Hemingways Bar and restaurant if you're on Cumberland. Or look for Remy's if you're on Yorkville. Turn into the alley and it'll be halfway down the alley. Google Map Remy's has a very large rooftop patio. Head up there for drinks, cigars and the "view".
Puros Y Vino Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 So there is still somewhere close by to smoke? Yes. Remy's rooftop. Hemingways is out. Cigar smokers are now "persona non grata" but feel free to light up cigarettes. Park Hyatt rooftop has a great view, but the prices went up. Probably prepping for TIFF.
