Evangundy
Are these similar blends to the normal lines of cigars, just different sizes. Or completely different blends. I have not ventured into this arena of CC's. Any suggestions as to what's smoking well now?

maverickdrinker
Monte GE LE 2010 are smoking great! It's typical Monte flavors on steroids X2 Add the cohiba 1966s and Ramon Allones Allones Extras to the list. These would be the 3 to start with to see if you like the EL profile. As for Regionals, I would only recommend the Ramon Allones Regionals to start. have fun on your journey A
CaptainQuintero
Normally different blends but retain the core DNA, some differ in how much they do it. Like everything cigars it's totally down to your tastes. Personally I think the Monte Sublimes EL from '08 are smoking the best right now, same with the Cuaba EL '08. Different regions do things their own way, Asia Pacific tend to release cigars that are for laying down for a good few years. The UK releases cigars that have some kind of historical point. All seem to come out best with four or five years on them, the trick is trying to get one which you like fresh but you also will think will age well. Best idea is probably if you like the normal line, try some of their EL /REs. If you're not knocked uot by the regular production you probably won't be knocked out by the special releases. Never buy on other people's say so, EL/REs are expensive, try singles and make your own mind up

CaptainQuintero
x2 on the RAE, 5 from three difference sources and each from a different box. All have been bitter and harsh or utterly tasteless. I'm either spectacularly unlucky or there are some major issues with them.
Zigatoh
Trying to answer the question in a different way I'd definitely say the ELs I've tried don't necessarily reflect the brand, the monte GE for example is a whole chocolate and cinnamon side step from the standard woody montecristo. Same for the REs in that the RA lusitanos, at least some of them (seemed to be consistency issues) were a honeyed version of the RAs normal white pepper. Some of them are closer for sure, but don't judge a brand flavour by its ELs and REs IMO. Oh and a HUGE +1 on the Monte GE being worth a try! cigcars
I think ANY Bolivar and/or Ramon Allones RE & LE
CaptainQuintero
Side note, utterly fed up with PL, RA and Punch regionals. Love the fact that some distributors are going with LFDC, Sancho Panza and La Escepcion etc but give the former a rest for a few years!
