So I bought a cab of these on a whim and because someone said "hey you should try these" so, like I always do, I buy a ton of them and hope to god that they work out.

Pre-light:

Not the prettiest cigar I have ever laid eyes on. The wrapper is a very light brown with a hint of green. I used a punch cut and took a deep prelight draw. The flavor was very grassy with a bit of sweetness in the mix (honey/sugar). The draw was a little restricted but no so much so that I was worried about it being plugged. I literally smoked it within 10 minutes of it being delivered to my doorstop so I didn't take a lot of time to take it all in although I remember the box smelling REALLY good when I slid the lid back.

First 1/3:

First thing I noticed was how much smoke output this stick had. The smoke had a sour finish but no an unpleasant sour flavor. The other flavors that immediately came to mind were a slight hint of wood a lot of grass and hints of soil. The only other flavor I could distinguish was a very sweet, caramel-like flavor that was very smokey and very enjoyable. The flavor was intense but it didn't feel like a kick to the stomach in terms of strength.

Second 1/3:

The sour flavor has vanished and I am left with a very thick, toasted marshmallow flavor with a sprinkling of nutmeg and/or cinnamon. There is ample spice with the sweetness but it isn't... spicy. The flavor surrounds a very nice, earthy core that holds up all the sweetness and keeps the cigar interesting. The burn is fairly straight and doesn't require any touch ups.

Last 1/3:

This section is an exact mirror of the second third but at this point I have decided to overdose on Turquino espresso. The cigar pairs very well by balancing out the coffee's slight bitterness with the sweetness of the PLPC.

Overall:

I was blown away with how well this cigar performed. I wasn't really expecting much as I have never had anything from the PL brand. I was told that its a solid smoke that is very enjoyable but I think the person that told me this somewhat undersold the PLPC to me. It had great, heavy flavor that was incredibly enjoyable. Not very complex, but that's not what I wanted in the first place. I have plenty of complex smokes that leave me scratching my head, but I really wanted something that I could just sit down and enjoy. The only complaint I have is that it was a little "young" tasting but I have another 49 sticks to age so I am not too worried about that.

LMAO!! I read the review three times, making sure I didn't ask the question if the answer was contained in the review. :rotfl:

Sorry, man. I shouldn't post after I've thrown a few too many back.

Thanks for the review. My very first CC box purchase was a cab of PLPC's. That was just last July I think? The cab I have is a ABR 11 I believe. They are a fantastic smoke and keep getting better month by month. I hope I can lay off the cab enough to let them age a few years. They are a real value as well. Cheers.

Yup, from that cabinet. Decided it was already a good smoke but some older examples I had before made me want to practice some patience with this cab...

Great review. I have a cab of OCT 08s that I have smoked a few out of and they are great cigars. These get really good at 3+ years imo and are one that I tend to age longer than some others. Let us know how they progress.

Great review, brother! The PLPC is one of my morning coffee and paper cigars. It's a staple in my humidor and in sure you will not regret the purchase. It's not uncommon to get 3 or 4 plugged in a cab though. But, it's kind of expected. Sometimes they loosen up once the get burning.

Nutmeg, marshmallow, with time butterscotch :-)

That sums them up dead on for me....

Great review. These are some of my favorites. When they are dark and oily (PSP or HQ), they're really hard to beat, at lease in the petite corona size range. I love the strength, spice, sweetness and the slight floral aftertaste. For a PC, they rule. I always have one or two cabs on hand. My latest was a HQ box from the Czar. Outstanding.

I'm going to smoke another tonight to see what a week of rest did (I usually go: day off the truck, one week, one months, three months then nine months).

Going to follow it up with an hupman no 2

It was just as good as the first. The I ly difference is that I dry boxed the second one for 24 hours. I won't dry box them again as I liked it better the first time.
