Rushman Posted April 7, 2012 Posted April 7, 2012 So my friend is coming down from LA. He is not a stranger to CC's but day to day smokes NC's. He is here for a week and will have free run of the humidor and shop. What should he try first? He smokes daily and likes a range of taste profiles and vitolas. --- I am here: http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=20.630141,-87.069562
NMJoe Posted April 7, 2012 Posted April 7, 2012 I think a Ramon Allones Extra would be a nice treat. I know I would sure be appreciative if someone started my vacation with one! Nice size, unique flavor profile, an all around great smoke. Cheers! Joe
maverickdrinker Posted April 7, 2012 Posted April 7, 2012 1966 BHK 54 RA Allones extra RASS Cohiba lancero Party short
Rushman Posted April 7, 2012 Author Posted April 7, 2012 I can surely buy him an RA Extra or 1966 but we don't stick them because they move too slow. Good ideas though. Maybe a RASS. I got those.
laficion Posted April 7, 2012 Posted April 7, 2012 Any Corona Gorda for a starter and then work my way up. I know I'd like that.
TWalker Posted April 7, 2012 Posted April 7, 2012 rush, it was great seeing you again yesterday. Blake liked the RASS and I thought the Upman #2 was a good cigar too. Never had one before. Not overly complex, but not harsh at any time and pretty smooth. How you can sit out in this heat and not even sweat is beyond me. I guess I have maple syrup in my veins or something. Thanks again bro, maybe we'll see you again before we head back home.

Believe me, I sweat, but I've learned to mitigate it with ice cold cerveza! --- I am here: http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=20.631704,-87.070685
Rushman Posted April 8, 2012 Author Posted April 8, 2012 We started off with a truly great aged Boli corona gigante and then on to a very nice albeit fairly young Upmann #2. Tomorrow, who knows. --- I am here: http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=20.631743,-87.070575
PigFish Posted April 8, 2012 Posted April 8, 2012 Any Corona Gorda for a starter and then work my way up. I know I'd like that. Guy... you are an anachronism! Being one myself, I believe I can candidly comment!!! Cheers my friend. How about wowing the guy and really mixing up his world with a Monte Especial #2. -the PIg
Rushman Posted April 8, 2012 Author Posted April 8, 2012 Pig would that I could my friend. Don't have those in my collection. --- I am here: http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=20.631678,-87.070700

(Please read this with humor, I am just bustin' your balls here a bit!) It goes like this mate. My friend, (talking to the guy from LA) I could give you a cigar that all the touristos ask for or I can pluck you fruit from the 'tree of knowledge.' This is what I have picked for you! Well, okay... I took it to far!!! -LOL This is what I am gonna's smoke now with a little strong coffee, dog on my lap, Ladypiggy on the phone, horses fed and Lord Piggy about to feast!!! Cheers, Happy Easter. -the Pig

Down here in ole Mexico I've got nice non tourista stock on the shelves but nothing extra extra special. My wife's storage humidor back in the states has all the good stuff (read as I'm not allowed to touch). Lots of aged goodies and several special humidor releases. We're enjoying a RASS right now. Allones extra later on deck. Take care!
Wil Posted April 8, 2012 Posted April 8, 2012 I'd say a consistent regular production, medium RG. Say a party 898v.

Now that I have thought about the answer more thoroughly I would have to say that any good Cuban cigar with a mate is special. That is the wonder of them. They are all different and each one is special to someone! Cheers amigo. -Piggy

Rushman Posted April 12, 2012 Author Posted April 12, 2012 It's my buddy's last full day in paradise. We have smoked some gems including a wonderful RASS, and some great monte 2's, monte edmundos, partagas p2s, Boli RC and CG, and too much else to mention. Today he tried his first Edmundo Dantes and tonight will try his first Allones Extra and party lusi. Great end to a great week.
Rushman Posted April 13, 2012 Author Posted April 13, 2012 Stopped at LCDH on way to airport so my buddy can fly home. Finishing up trip in style. He is smoking a bolivar French RE and I'm smoking a LGC Imensas. Retail prices, while they suck in general, aren't that bad here compared to PDC. --- I am here: http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=21.105123,-86.764919
