El Presidente Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 What cigar would you give out of your collection to a NC cigar smoking guest which best encapsulates the best of Cuban Cigars? That one cigar that to you represents the best of Cuba...that seldom fails to satisfy completely or simply blow you away?
tmac77 Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 A tough one Rob as there have been a number of Marca/vitolas that for me just perform consistently day in day out. Assuming that you have to select only one cigar from regular production of current non discontinued cigars. I would go with the Vegas Robaina Unico. I love the uniqueness of the VR marca and the Unico captures this the best.
UpInSmoak Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 I'd give the cigar that started me down the slope..... Partagas D #4 Consistently good, and always tasty!
charlesod Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 Perhaps a PSD4 or Siglo 4. I wouldn't want to give them anything too large or too strong (don't want to scare them off). But, it should be substantial enough to get their attention. Whatever I would give them, I would want it to be of higher quality (PSP or HQ). The first experience should be as memorable as possible.
bacalao Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 I wouldn't want to give a NC smoker anything mild.... so for me it would have to be a RASS for size, flavor, body, strength and complexity. He will never go back to NC's again.
Rushman Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 VR Unico or HDM Epi 2 --- I am here: http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=20.630176,-87.069783
canadianbeaver Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 PSD4 is an excellent choice, but I might also suggest a HOYO DM Epi #2. Matthew says don't give them something too good in case you might be wasting it on them
Orion21 Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 Easy...any regular poduction Bolivar. The BRC has always been fantastic.
BatFastard Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 It would have to be a PSD4. 2010 boxes have been surprisingly consistent.
laficion Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 I think that I would give him (or her) a cigar that would be rather medium but flavorful in the PC or other sizes, (RA, Bolivar ,Punch ,) just to open up his (or her) appetite for something complexe or at least allow them to become a bit more curious about Cubans . Like a beer drinker, I would not start his first wine drinking by a bottle of DRC.I would rather start with a fine Languedoc and work my way up. Then again he may just want to stick to his NC 's and his beer. No problem .
IcedCanuck Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 I gave two of my NC smoking friends a Bolivar Corona Gigante each and we all smoked them. They really liked them.
aavkk Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 used to be the 02 LGC #4's but now I've gone into hoarding mode on those. Also, once someone loves it I like to be able to point them in the right direction to acquire them. I'm finding the recent production (and aged) JL 1s and 2's to be very unique and excellent. I'll be passing these out at a cousin's wedding in a few months.
PuffDaddie Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 How about a Diplomaticos no,2 or a Moni no2, both great cigars.
dvickery Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 already cigar smoker and knows a good thing when she/he sees one. partagas short...03's would be best. the first one is free...hee hee . derrek
mbrody Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 Boli PC. Great size, consistent construction, great flavor, medium cigar, just the right package to encapsulate the essence of a "habano."
Dsc05eec Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 Monte Edmundo Just gave one to my Harley service manager who never had a CC. No report back yet. Good size, good flavor thought it would be a good 1st CC.
dicko Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 x 2. maybe an h upmann 46 too Boli PC. Great size, consistent construction, great flavor, medium cigar, just the right package to encapsulate the essence of a "habano."
Colt45 Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 There are a few, but first that comes to mind is the Partagas 898V.
