Ken Gargett Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 been trying to follow this for a while. seems as many different opinions as as there are those putting them forward. so what are the thoughts? where will peyton go? and why? better yet, where should he go?
Ken Gargett Posted February 9, 2012 Author Posted February 9, 2012 Home to Tennessee. Or better yet, have him come up to the CFL. I'd actually watch a game or 2 if he did that! when i was staying with friends in toronto, recovering from the latest attempt by a sealbashers' hospital to kill me, i went along to a game of canadian football. i honestly tought they were joking when they said that was what we were doing. if i recall, and it is a long tiome ago, only three downs not four? they'd be doing themselves a favour to get in line. i actually quite enjoyed myself, though anything was better than yet another night in a canadian hospital.
riazp Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 I think the teams that will be gunning for manning will be the redskins, jets, cardinals...those are the three teams I hear about the most often. I think maybe the vikings ans the titans will have a go at him as well

I think maybe the vikings ans the titans will have a go at him as well stuff i see has the dolphins a serious contender with skins next. and lots of reasons/opinions why he'd be the best thing for the skins or the worst thing. hard to know. surely it would be surprising if the jets dumped sanchez? even if this not his best year?
Bcrowell Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 I could see him going to the Jets as they are desperate for a championship. However, if he wants to beat his old team 2 times a year he would choose the Titans or the Texans. It sounds a little crazy but if he came to the Texans he would have a great shot at a title this next year. Oh did I mention that I'm a season ticket holder?
riazp Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 i'm a jets fan and the last thing I want to see is payton with the Jets. But the owner wants to win and win Now...I think hes willing to set the franchise back a few years if I can win a championship in the next two seasons...after all we are talking about the same team that went after Brett Favre... Payton to the skins would do nothing but vastly improve them. they have no one at the qb posisiton, they have a buttload of money to spend. This will allow the skins to draft a qb in the first round, and have Manning mentor him. Same goes for the dolphins.
Scdalak Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 Ken it was reported just today that Manning is currently suffering from "noodle arm", translation, he simply cannot throw a football like an NFL QB at this point. The complications and restrictions from his neck fusion is not allowing him to pass correctly. His "Peeps" are "hopeful" over time this can be worked out. That being said, there are a few owners out there, (Daniel Snyder Redskins, and Woody Johnson J-E-T-S) Who i could envision tossing 50 Mil at him "sight unseen".. Where ever he lands, they will need the best offensive line in NFL history to protect this guy... Being a Patriots fan, (tough to admit right now) My hopes are he lands with the Jets in NY, will add more fuel to a great rivalry and provide me more fodder to taunt Riaz with...
terrantheman Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 I think Miami is legit. I wouldn't be surprised if the Broncos put a bid in and maybe had a great QB mentor Tebow and go for a championship at the same time. Tennessee would be interesting considering it is his homestate. But at the end who knows, Peyton has options and it doesn't look like his old team wants him, to bad no Dungy anymore.
Habanakane21 Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 Dolphins or Cardinals I think. The Arizona desert air may help the old guy out.
riazp Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 Dolphins or Cardinals I think. The Arizona desert air may help the old guy out. Worked for Warner...
mk05 Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 jets? Two mannings, one city? I dont know if any pats fan could handle that much manning.
jjdolphin Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 Either retire or stay in Indy. No sense in going anywhere. He has 2-3 years left in him provided he stays healthy. Just when he gets use to the players and the offense he is done. Why leave Reggie Wayne, Pierre Garcon, Dallas Clarke? For what...Brandon Marshall and ??? Or the Redskins with an awful O-line. Or Cardinals? Indy or someone who will win now. Or his rocking chair.

Indy wont want to give him his 20 million + roster bonus that due in march. and they have the no 1 pick in the draft so they will draft andrew luck
cckandb24 Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 We love Peyton her in Indy. He is a living legend but Irsay cannot throw the guy 30 million and have him get hit in the first game next season and be injured. I'm not sure anyone will take him but we will see. I'm actually quite tired of hearing about it, the media made it the top topic here when it's focus should have been the super bowl.
LLC Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 If he's healthy and the Jets can get him, they will. They share the stadium with the Giants and are desperate to be the lead team in the daily papers and on the field.

Favre, while a great QB, was NOT a good fit for the style of offense that the Jets run. (He fit it much, much better with the Vikings the following year.) I'm not sure how close the Jets offense style matches with the Colts. But, if they're not similar, it would be a big gamble.
SigloIII Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 Assuming he's healthy Arizona makes the most sense. Kevin Kolb is a bum who was outplayed by John Skelton so cutting him should be easy. Arizona plays indoors, has filthy receivers and their defense is getting stronger by the second.
Rogers72 Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 I think it all depends on what kind of shape he's in. I know he released the news last week that he was medically cleared to play but that doesn't mean much. I would be medically cleared to play...that doesn't mean that I am capable of being a top QB. IF he is back to old form OR if he looks like he will be back to old form, the Colts would be foolish to get rid of him OR draft Luck. In that case, I would keep Manning and get as much as I could from one of the qb-desparate teams for that first round pick. Then, Draft the next best available QB and shore up your OL and secondary with the rest of the draft. IF he is not looking like he will return to his old form, draft luck, release Manning, and let the chips fall where they may....this is the worst case scenario for the Colts. There is no guarantee with Luck. The chances of him being anywhere near the qb that manning has been for them are 1/1,000. They are going to have to revamp their entire philosophy without Manning and should go ahead and start that even if they do keep Manning.
MoneyPit Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 I just don't see him coming to Tennessee. Most Titan fans are very excited about the continual development of Jake Locker. Jake had some pretty exciting moments last year for a team that was pretty boring to watch.
thechenman Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 Texans...would benefit the most from having him short-term as t hey could immediately capitalize on Peyton, and he should want to go there if a Super Bowl victory is in his mind. Peyton under center would make the Texans a definite contender for the title next season. Probably moreso than any other team I can think of at the moment. That said...It would be cool to see him as a Jet with both Manning brothers in NYC, or rather Rutherford, NJ. I'm sure the Giants will be on the Pats schedule next year and then there's the two against the Jets. Would certainly make it interesting for NE.
compitaveggie Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 Not gonna happen, but the 49ers are a good team that needs a more experienced QB. He could help them win those tight games and help train Alex Smith. Just dreaming.
