beamer Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 Halfway through my first of these. The lousy burn finally corrected itself after I torched it again. I think I was expecting a bigger version of the PC? This is much lighter. Wood, Hay, some citrus, and a just the slightest hint of caramel and salt. Curious to see if anyone else has smoked one of these lately. Thanks.
beamer Posted January 31, 2012 Author Posted January 31, 2012 Last third now. Some light coffee and earth. Very light white pepper. The cigar is burning perfectly after the issue in the first third. Toasted cashews, perhaps? I think I still prefer the PC.
mk05 Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 Robustos > Beli extra for me. Magnificos are on another level imo.
perfectform Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 All of the PL AP releases have been stunning IMO.
Styler Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 I absolutely love the robusto, the belicoso extra was petty good but needed a little more time when I last tried them.
mk05 Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 I absolutely love the robusto, the belicoso extra was petty good but needed a little more time when I last tried them. This. When i tried all three, i thought they were all pretty similar but the magnificos seemed nicer atm. So i figured it was due to the PL aging rule. Clearly the thinnest of the three are smoking the best currently (imo). Robusto should be really in a year, and the torp to follow.
CigarAsh Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 I love the PL robustos. Bought a box to start smoking and liked them so much I bought another box to put away. They've been uniformly excellent for me. They're definitely a milder, lighter flavored cigar. Not a lot of pepper or spice to them, but a good floral, tea flavor that I find pretty refreshing. Sometimes I like something with some more spice and complexity to it and other times this really fits well for me. Had one on the deck last night (65 degrees in the middle of winter!) and paired it with a nice 18 year old Jameson Irish whiskey. Perfect match for me.
tinknocker924 Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 Anyone know if the encantos are similar to the pc?
El Presidente Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 I love the Pacifico. Most of the examples I have had of late have been stunning complex cigars. They are no PLPC...can't be as the blend is completely different. Same goes for the Encantos but they will need a little sleep time to bring out the hidden complexity. It is there. The Encantos is again not a bigger version of the PLPC. Different blend.
PartiDude Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 Love the 07 Robusto and think it's one of the best values considering the complexity of this cigars. Currently smoking through my first FoH PSP, HQ, PE box purchase which is an HQ box of the PL Robo. Absolutely fantastic. I thoroughly enjoy the Encantos as well and have smoked almost an entire box of those as well, great from as early as a year ago. I'll definitely be buying more Encantos to age and hopefully it will mature into what the Robo is now.
TWalker Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 The belicoso extra has been one of my favourite cigar in the late part of 2011. I'm hoping to pick up a box to put away in the near future. I got a definite carmel, toffee, coffee something or other from it. Very nice. I haven't tried the robusto or encanto.
sblevit Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 Liked the Robustos. Did not care for the Beli Xtras. The PL Regalias are in a different league. Looking forward to the upcoming PL RE for Spain.
mm12 Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 To me, the Encantos profile is similar to the Montecarlos. I can't wait for my boxes to get some age on them. The Robustos started kind of mediocre, got really good 2010-early 2011, and now they seem to be heading downhill a bit.
