It's not on the discontinued list and i know the Czar store has them in stock.I've smoked the churchill but never the wides.

Have you smoked them?

They have been around in LFTH, and a few vendors have them, they seem to be quite popular with the kids which explains they are not in stock for long...i've had 2 of them and well Meh...the rg is too much, i'll stick with the short churchills, the only RyJ I enjoy

I grabbed a box of 10 from the last LFTH. Figured it was cheap enough for me to finally give them a try. Not really into the huge ring gauge but a few of my friends are. They're excited to try them when I get them. I enjoy the short Churchills myself.

What happen to Romeo Julieta Wide Churchill ?

Churchill, Short Churchill, Wide Churchill and unless I am mistaken, still another one to come in the line.

Poor Diplomatico....how does he feel hanging on with one cigar while HSA release a 'Not so Wide Shortish Churchill?" :D

I have little doubt the Wide Churchill will disappear over time. Not a bad cigar. Not a great cigar. Huge variation in quality. A celebration of mediocrity.

LOL. All so true.

It doesn't surprise me, either, if H S.A. were to indeed release a 4th cigar within the "Churchill" lineage, if you can call it that.

Hey, I think we all gave a certain amount of courtesy and grace to the Short Churchill, due to it working with the name and thought of being a cut-down essentially. But the Wide is just marketing crap, using the lineage to sell sticks. We'll see what the bastards do next....

It'd be nice to see a Skinny Churchill, in all honestly. Bastardization of the name/lineage aside, it would be a breath of fresh air for them to start bringing back skinnies. Or just to stop deleting them....

I have smoked a couple of boxes....the first ones was great with lots of cherry and chocolate flavors.

The last boxes was good but nothing more than that! I actually have a box waiting at the postoffice.

I'm actually a big fan of the RyJ Wide Churchill...while I'm not into the large ring gauge, I've enjoyed the flavors more than the RyJ Churchill and the RyJ Short Churchill.

+1 on this, Although I still will take the Short, the 4 Wides I have smoked have been just mild and creamy, nice smoke. Just dont think they need to add "petite" to the line now Bizarre to say the least..

Also the 55 is ovbiously Large, but the 2009 R & J Duke EL is a tremendous smoke, 54 Ga and a full 1 inch longer than the Wide.. Rob and Ken gave it a stellar video review last year..

I had one and realy enjoyed it but thats no sort of sample to judge it on. Don't give them ideas Captainquintero!

I've had good luck with the few I have tried. Not so much with the Short Churchill...inconsistency I would guess.

I definitely prefer a larger ring smoke, so I may have to try these out... though I am interested to learn more about these Duke Els. Now that sounds like my type of cigar! :)

I've enjoyed the Duke as well, but the Wide Churchill is superior IMHO...

Hmm. Well... when in doubt, try them both, right? :)

Yes...there is always that option as well...

The Wide Churchill is on my short list of smokes I'm eager to try. I really like the R&J Short Churchill, the only R&J I've liked other than the MF (but I haven't had the Churchill). I also like that they are available in 10-count boxes ... I hope more sticks become available in 10-counts.

Though I usually prefer a thinner ring, it's because of flavor not size. I'll smoke any size if I like the flavor.

Big fan of the short Churchills. Hate the Churchills. This thread prompted me to dig out a wide Churchill from my unopened box - will smoke it soon and report back.

I picked up a couple of these during my trip to Belgium earlier this summer and bought another one from a Toronto shop after my return to Canada. I may have been lucky considering the amount of comments on inconsistency but my three were fabulous! This is what I wrote on my personal tasting list:

"Wide Churchills [Robusto/Robusto]: CAD$ 25.00; € 11.00.

What a wonderful smoke! Excellent construction, perfect draw and very appealing colorado colour. The wrapper left spicy notes on my lips before lighting up but the filler did not acquire that taste before the last third of the cigar. Dark cocoa from the start to the end. The taste seemed linear in the first third, reminding me of the second third of his longer brother the RyJ Churchill, but it acquired more complexity and richness in the second and the third sections. Nearly no bitterness in it. This was a very relaxing medium bodied cigar and, on the plus side, the cigar had a wonderful smell of Belgian dark chocolate. (The first time in my life I spent some much time smelling the smoke!). To develop such flavours after only one year of boxing is properly astonishing. This one will age magnificently. 9.3".

Of course, this was written according to my personal taste and should not be used as a generalization.

Best,

Michel
