Rushman Posted September 17, 2011 Posted September 17, 2011 Has anyone here smoked the Culebra? I have always thought they might be a conversation starter or party gift but are they any good? Thanks
Lotusguy Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 I've had a few of them. Typical Partagas taste and quite strong. They are great to share with a couple of friends and the presentation is very nice with those individual coffins. Usually a bit underfilled i.e. relatively loose draw. Enjoy!
riazp Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 Yes in fact, not only is the cigar a great conversation piece to share with 2 freinds, its actually a damn tasty cigar. The draw is a bit loose, which is to be expected, probably they need to underfill it a tad to get it to bend the way it does, but does not affect the cigar. If you can find em, go for it!
Ginseng Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 Yes, I agree. I just broke open a box that had been sealed nearly two years. They are really quite excellent. Straightforward, strong, rich, and great draw despite being all kinked up. Highly recommended. Wilkey
lemmycaution Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 I've only had one and I wouldn't hesitate to buy more. Great flavor and a unique experience.
NJP Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 I took 2 coffins to a lunch/dinner in Carlton Melbourne just recently. It was a 4 different cigar day, lots of food and wine but the pigs tails were stand out talking points and decent flavor. Even a fellow guest at the restaurant remembered having a Upman Culebras (wiser old collector) so I gave him one and he thought the Partagas was on the money. Sadly another interesting cigars to be lost in the system of HSA
77stoneblues Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 I've got 2 coffins, and gave one away as a birthday present. Still waiting to try them, based on the FOH video review. Seem like they might be a bit stronger than I thought, so after a hearty thanksgiving, I believe I'll break them out then.
Smallclub Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 I'm working through my 2nd box of the original release (2007) and and they are still strong and spicy. I wonder if they'll ever evolve. Solid cigar anyway…
Professor Twain Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 Tasty, to me very reminiscent of the Serie du Cons. Stock up since they're being discontinued.
stinkhead Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 These are really good cigars, I had a coffin on my trip to Rome and it was awesome. I am having a hard time finding them now thou as both of my regular sources no longer have them in stock.....
Pilgrims Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 By coincidence I had the second part of one yesterday and have ben very impressed with both, rich and full without being two weighty, very paratgas and the draw (which apprently always is)has been excellent, I strongly recommen them and will buy more
