Howdy there. Just wondering when y'all get a box of Sir Winstons, 898s, etc., do you leave the wooden box inside the cardboard box inside your humidor or do you remove the wooden internal box and discard the outer cardboard box? Just curious. I know the box code is only on the cardboard box so I was just curious if y'all keep that all together or not. I know it does impact anything to keep them together or not. Was just wondering the practice of those here. Thus far I've kept everything together as I receive it.

Thanks!

I always take the wooden box out of the cardboard box when I place the cigars in

my box humidor. I of course keep the cardboard box for reference since it carries the codes.

Cardboard & humidity is not a good mix in a humidor.

You make a good point, laficion. I'll be removing the cardboard boxes from my humidor. THANKS

I thought about writing the box code on the bottom of the wooden box in Sharpie. I think the only other thing on the cardboard box is the HSA seal.

I used to cut the code into a little square and put it in the wooden box with the cigars. Now I just keep the code in my records and throw the whole cardboard sleeve in the trash.

I trash the cardboard boxes as well. I just write the box code on the bottom of the box.

That's what like to do as well. Plus, the wooden boxes look oh so much prettier than the cardboard.

This is generally what I do. However, there is one thing to consider before throwing away the cardboard box: if there is any likelihood that you might later sell the box intact, knowledgeable buyers will want the outer cardboard box with the code on it.

Ooooooh, good point. Very true.

I generally have just always thrown them in as I got them, cardboard and all. But Guy's post, about cardboard and humidity not being a good mix, has definitely got me thinking. Although, I can't imagine it being a major issue - after all, many retailers keep them in the original cardboard boxes for many many years of aging.
