coffee, Red Wine, Porto, Rum and coke

Nice, I have been loving coffee with my cigars more and more lately, and especially as it get cooler here in Texas. During the summer when you wake up and it's already 100F, coffee is usually the last thing you want. I loathe Starbucks, but I was at one the other day with my wife on our way home from shopping, and so I went in and decided coffee sounded good, I had already planned on lighting up a nice cigar when I got home. I noticed they had some new (i only noticed because they were marked as new) items on the menu. A whole line of salted caramel flavors. I love salted caramel, so I ordered a salted caramel mocha coffee. Took it home and lit up a Trinidad T, It was like magic!!! Now the salt in the salted caramel does many magical things to your taste buds for many foods, most well know is the pairing with dark chocolate. The salt exaggerates the chocolate taste like a pure choco explosion. Well, that's also what it did to the tobacco. The salty notes in the coffee complimented the tobacco so well, I had never tasted such a great pure taste from a cigar in my life....It's worth a shot, I highly recommend trying it.

Bourbon (Woodford is my standard, but I love so many)...Scotch (reach for Balvenie usually)..(neat and neat), brandy/cognac, champagne, coffee...you know what...I absolutely love beer, but I really don't enjoy beer and cigars...lager,ale,stout,porter, etc.... love them all, but I've never found a cigar to play nice with beer. I suppose, to each their own palette preference.

I am getting to where I too prefer Bourbon over Scotch.

Amen to that !!!

I like rum, scotch, bourbon, port, old fashioners, sazeracs, white Russians.

I love beer and red wine. But for some reason in hate pairing them cigars. But that's just my palate...to each their own brother.

Coconut water! Give it a try- especially with a cigar on the drier side.

I agree!!!!

Fresh Mojito is my fav! But a nice red or some Single Malt ties for second in my books.

I have to go with red wine, a good dark rum(recently tried pyrat rum and was very good), or a nice rich coffee. I really could have a much longer list but I will leave it at my top 3.

My number one go-to drink for any cigar is a rum and diet Coke - I prefer Cruzan Black Strap, though I often do half Black Strap and half Cruzan Aged. With a touch of natural lime juice, of course, on the rocks. And give me a big glass... pint glass will do in a pinch of that's the biggest you've got.

I'll drink other things on occasion (coffee, beer, cognac, scotch, bourbon, whatever), but 80% of the time I'm drinking the above.

Cheers,

~ Greg ~
