PigFish Posted August 7, 2011 Author Posted August 7, 2011 Ummm...what is this picture saying? you mess with my Partagas serie du connoiseur 3 and you get shot? If so... ... outta' gas become a pill box, outta' ammo become a bunker, outta' cigars, become a legend! -LOL -Piggy
riazp Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 Very nice Piggy! this is my favorite of your pictures...you should include a handgun in all your cigar pics!
daboose Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 Outstanding! Very expressive! (More so than those wimpy wine glass pics )
PigFish Posted August 7, 2011 Author Posted August 7, 2011 Winner of the worst photo! ...well I am glad to be the winner of something! -LOL There is an interesting story that goes with this particular firearm. The firearm, the likely reason for certain comments. My father took this Walther PP off a German officer that he captured during the invasion of Italy in WWII. When I consider the ramifications of such events, one that brought such important changes to the world as whole, and this beautiful pistol to me, I think more of the power of force in the hands of the righteous and not the contrary. I used it as a prop, jesting about the serious nature and the delema of the thin ring cigar smoker, such as myself. As such, I disregard comments from those who have no constitution for reality, no creativity of their own, no courage to include an image or prose and present it to peers for criticism; one that may bring praise or disdain back to him as a result. The world, not even the simple cigar board is shaped or made interesting to others by those scared to show themselves as who they are. Like me, dislike me... all okay by me. I appear to create enough emotion that even the bedbugs post and that is more than most! -Piggy
daboose Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 Suitable for framing espeically now with the story behind it. I sincerely would like to frame this for my office with a copy of the story mounted on the back.
dB69 Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 What if you changed those bullets to daisies? OR Are you gonna get the roller who used that multicoloured wrapper for your cigar?
Rehman Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 Isn't that the James Bond gun?! And hollow-point man-stopper bullets... kaPOW!
PigFish Posted August 8, 2011 Author Posted August 8, 2011 What if you changed those bullets to daisies? OR Are you gonna get the roller who used that multicoloured wrapper for your cigar? Too late! An afternoon on my Hog to the usual biker joint and the cigar is now but a memory! Blame it on Rob, he sold them to me!!!! For the record, if he offered to buy them back I would tell him to bugger off! -the Pig
PigFish Posted August 8, 2011 Author Posted August 8, 2011 Isn't that the James Bond gun?! And hollow-point man-stopper bullets... kaPOW! JB was written to carry a PPK. The movies appear to depict a PP typically. The PP is a larger firearm, and by modern standards still quite small. Mine is a PP. PP's were issued to Luftwaffe personnel and Nazi officers, and perhaps others, I am not really up on the subject. I believe that my dad told me this was once the property of a major. He was never really talkative about his service. There are the Nazi insignias punched in the pistol and interestingly enough, there is a wear mark on the front strap. I have concluded that the owner obviously wore a ring when practicing with it, leaving a wear mark where the strap met his ring. Mine depicts an eagle carrying a swastika. Whether that is a standard marking or a Luftwaffe insignia is not known to me. I am not really into WWII collectables and have no fascination with National Socialism nor the NAZI war machine. I hate the thought of them actually! This pistol is a piece of history and seeing that it directly relates to my dad's service, has no mind of its own, nor party affiliation; I am proud to have it as a part of my collection. For those who have complemented the photo. Thank you! -Ray

PigFish Posted August 9, 2011 Author Posted August 9, 2011 Sorry Piggy! The only souvenir my father brought back from WWII is the shrapnel that's still in his right leg. That's cool mate, thanks for sharing! Thank you for the apology too, noted and accepted; water under the bridge. I think that you should post your pic in the Watering Hole and not bury it here if you don't mind me saying. (Whisper... some people hold my opinions against me and don't read my threads! -LOL) I think that it is certainly as worthy as anyone else's pic and should have its own. JMHO. Cheers, Piggy
cigaraholic Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 That's very kind of you Piggy. With all the shipping trouble Lisa and I have had the last few months I think the last thing she wants is to ship me something.
