I do like the Xikar, however I prefer a dual flame one like the Axia.

I prefer having a stronger burn with my bigger gauge cigars like the robusto etc as well as it being windproof as I tend to smoke outside but not triple flame which is harder for me to get accurate burn with.

Anyway the Xikar brand is very good, I have the element which has double flame.

I also have others but the Xikar has a very good cost/benefit ratio.

I've been sort of looking for one too. At home I'm set I have a creme brule torch from Tesco which lights 10 cigars before needing a refill, perfect for me! But not easily to take with you out and about lol. I've been leaning towards some of the Vector lighters, 5 year guarentee ad range from super slimline designs to rubber coated camping ones with built in bullet punch :)

I have a single flame xikar lighter that I have had for about year and half been very happy with it. I am thinking about getting a dual flame for larger Cigars. When I bought my Xikar punch the sales person said if I had problems with it to bring it back to the store and they would replace it in the store, they would send the old one to company fix it and send it overseas to the troops. For the warranty and service it really is tough to beat Xikar. I own both S.T. Dupont and Dunhill lighters, and quite honestly I find them overrated. Both have seen extensive shop time. I also from time to time have used my Lotus T3 (triple flame) table lighter than can set the house on fire. Experience has taught me that I prefer a single flame lighter as they are easier to use for touching up a cigar. Often times I use a Blazer PB-207, a great lighter with a huge fuel reserve. Ronson makes great inexpensive butan lighters for around $6 which I also use and don't mind damaging or losing. Indoors I use a butane lighter, but prefer a softflame. I typically will use a vintage Ronson Varaflame in those instances. I have several that are over 50 years old and still working like a charm. Now that's a dependable lighter.

I like the cheap lighters myself. I've been using a $9 single jet Madelaine I bought in the supermarket, and it works great. I just purchased a Jobon duel flame(single jet, soft flame) from eBay for $7.99. Waiting for delivery from Hong Kong.

I have 2 Xikars. My Executive needs to be sent back because it won't hold butane and my Element has a clogged jet.

I have a Colibri which has operated flawlessly.

And the ones I typically reach for are my Vectors. One is a pocket triple jet that I got for the golf course which never fails to ignite and the other is a table lighter with a Perdomo logo on it. Also a triple jet and works every time.

I have only used Vector fuel in all of them.

Cheers,

Kevin

I haven't been able to convince myself to shell out for a Xikar or ST Dupont... my soft flame lighters and Ronson single jet (looks like a Zippo) work for me at present. I thought the Ronson would be garbage but it's my go-to as long as I don't need to depend on it to light more than 3-4 cigars. It probably does more, but I like to be sure. Xikar fuel (butane) is good stuff.

My Xikar element has been working flawless since ive got it 6 months ago, i also have a lotus for a couple years. it broke once, all i did was bring it back to the shop and they sent it back for a replacement, at no cost. i think they our life time warranty too. I like the single flame on the lotus, but its just a matter of taste. I think they both work well only difference is a single flame or the double on the Xikar.

I've had an Xicar Axia for about 7-8 years now and it's still working fine. Sometimes it takes a few tries to light, but it always does.

The key to any torch lighter is to use superior butane. I bought a case of Lava the last time it was available, so I'm probably set for life. I'm not sure what the current status of it is, but it's worth looking for it as it's quintuple refined.

I work at a cigar store that carries a lot of the major brands and I see the differences in all of the lighters. The good xikar lighter are the Element, which is the double flame with the bullet. But i personally think the best lighter is the Blazer pb-207 especially if you are concerned with butane. I can light between a dozen and 2 dozen cigars with one fill of the tank, they are crazy good.

While I still have a few torch lighters and use them regularly (windy outside), you'll have to pry my IM Corona Classico from my cold dead hand and give it to my son. That is who gets it when I am gone and it will more than likely out last him as well.

Soft flame and flint ignition is the way to go. They light the first time every time. Plus you don't have to be as concerned with over heating the foot when you use a soft flame. I can tell a difference when I use a soft flame or a torch. But that could just be all in my head. If you are set on a torch get the PB-207. They would not be in such high demand, even today, if they were not good.

#1 reason to buy a PB-207 if you decide on a torch is: ... They are available from Cigar Czar. You know Rob would not sell us something that he felt was not an excellent product.

Enough said.

Please let us know what you go with.
