investandprosper Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 Bolivar Lonsdale, TAECCES 43 x 6.7" Late '99 was the best Riazp and I could figure from the box code and warranty seal. Beautiful construction. A little bounce when squeezed, which is how I like them. Gorgeous wrapper. Aroma at cold: Well aged tobacco Draw: A bit firmer than I like, but not too firm. Flavor at cold: Sweet with a twang of spice Opening: Absolutely stunning. I have never had a cigar that tastes like this. Vanilla and caramel candy, dripping with honey. There is not a hard edge to this cigar at all. Plenty of smoke coming through. A light gray ash is developing, with a razor sharp burn. The finish is long lasting, with rich, creamy caramel. Not much body to speak of, it's a very mellow cigar. Getting into the second third, the aroma picks up hints of coffee and chocolate. Caramel and vanilla are still heating up the flavor stage. I poured myself a little Glenkinchie 12 year single malt, and the sweetness is playing off of the cigar very well. The cigar has a level of class to it, that background of aged tobacco that comes through on every draw but fades quickly to the dominant, rich flavors. Excellent! The ash doesn't hang on much, maybe 1/4 inch at a time. I've had several ash fouls. Starting the final third, and I've finally found where the classic bolivar coffee and cream were hiding. The body picks up to medium-full, and I'm hit with wave after wave of rich flavor. It's performing like an HQ Bolivar Corona Junior, massive flavor. Lots of smoke with a rich black coffee & hazelnut finish. Just a stunning cigar! Rating: 94 Just a great cigar that doesn't demand your attention, but washes the palate with rich flavor on every draw, reminding you of how special she is. It tended to burn hot when smoked too aggressively, but sipping seemed to bring out her best. I can see why Ray loves the long and skinnies, this cigar embodies class and refinement.
bassman Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 Sounds wonderful. I've only had a couple of the lonsdales & they were kind of flat. You got a winner.

I guess the days of the snap and shoot are fading...why buy a camera when your iphone can take 5mp pics like that that hd video?...sorry to go off topic but i'm very impressed. Have you been able to confirm the box code? maybe Trevor can give us more info.

Haven't confirmed the box code, I just know it's a late '99 from the smaller warranty seal and the code itself ... Couldn't find any info on the TAE prefix.
Orion21 Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 Excellent review and pics. I love the Boli line and nice find with the '99.
bassman Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 TAE is a 1999 code for one of the Holguin provincial factories.
