redlir Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 So there I was this morning with a nice fresh cup of coffee. I figured I would smoke the last single out of my RnJ Cazadores 5er sample I bought recently. I clipped the cap and to my surprise, there were 2 pieces of string sticking out of the cigar on either side just underneath the wrapper... maybe a few cm long each. I tugged on one of the ends and a length of string about half the length of the cigar came out... same for the other side... lol not sure what to think. These cigars came from a very reputable source locally. Nothing suspicious on the foot so I I fired it up.. and it's smoking well.. clipped it after the first 3rd and still no more string so I just lit her up and kept going.. Secret to the blend perhaps!!
cigcars Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 *Sounds like a possible roller's guffaw at the factory table. Might've been just some "loose string" laying on the table and got sopped up into the cigar during assembly stage. JMHO
redlir Posted May 14, 2011 Author Posted May 14, 2011 Ya who knows lol.. it just seemed so bizarre. This is probably the best one out of the 5 too! Everyone knows Cuban string is the best tasting string!!!
CaptainQuintero Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 Everyone knows Cuban string is the best tasting string!!! It's the soil!
habanohal Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 I posted this same thing over a year ago so i know what you mean
ajgagnon Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 My dad and I went to Varadero once (about 2004) and bought some dodgy cigars that sported, to the best of our discerning, wool socks inside! Just a bit of sock, not the whole thing. We bought better cigars after that. In retrospect, I wonder if it could be string from hanging the leaves on racks in the barns... I'd rather that than socks.
redlir Posted May 14, 2011 Author Posted May 14, 2011 I posted this same thing over a year ago so i know what you mean Hmm really huh? What brand was it?
bstarrs Posted May 15, 2011 Posted May 15, 2011 Luckily for me I have yet to find string, hair or any other foreign objects in any of my smokes yet. Most I've gotten was a giant toothpick sized stem in a Rafael Gonzalez Panatela Extra but what else do you expect with a budget smoke? Knock on wood I won't be smoking string or someones finger nail in the future....
First Lady Posted May 15, 2011 Posted May 15, 2011 We see it from time to time when we open boxes and pick singles, you would be amazed at some of the things we find... we have found a balled up piece of paper (rubbish) in a cabinet of Cohiba Robusto, on the bottom of a bundle of cigars (think it might of been HDM E2 I think) we found a cut out from a Toothpaste pack, you have to love the Cubans :-)
El Presidente Posted May 15, 2011 Posted May 15, 2011 Over the course of a year, I would see enough foreign objects in cigars to facilitate an escape from a maximum security prison
toasterhead Posted May 16, 2011 Posted May 16, 2011 The photos are missing but there was a string incident in 2008: http://www.friendsofhabanos.com/forum/inde...2&hl=string I discovered the toothpaste box cut to brace a CS I bundle, (as have others with other brands): http://www.friendsofhabanos.com/forum/inde...p;hl=toothpaste Wacky! Dave
capecc Posted May 16, 2011 Posted May 16, 2011 YES! I have found a string too. Didn't tell anyone to avoid the inevitable feminine hygiene jokes.
BradNC Posted May 16, 2011 Posted May 16, 2011 Hmmmm. Wonder if Clinton could blame his actions on instructions he simply found in his cuban cigar box. Too far?
