Anyone ever heard of the term Third-Hand Smoke? I was with my parents and other family members yesterday, when this term came up. It's kinda like 2nd-Hand Smoke, without the smoke. I guess when non-smokers smell tobacco on your shirt or hair, it can give them cancer. Honestly, they are usually pretty reasonable people, but they were convinced this has to be true. It started a huge debate, but I gave up. Sometimes you just can't reason with people. Gotta love the holidays...

Yes, that's what it's all about today, living a VERY long healthy life....... <_< ..........in a dull, boring,

tasteless and sterilized world.

I just hope that they don't get any cancer from breathing that gasoline when they fill up at the

station.

The fun is just starting !!!

Third-Hand Smoke? If it was this toxic in such small concentrations it would be banned outright. But its not so it isn't. ;)

What's next? Fourth hand smoke, this is the smoke people breathe out after breathing in 3rd hand smoke. Sure to give you afflictions like the stickers on the boxes show. <_<

...then one problem leads to another and we will be forcing people to ride the carousel on their 30th birthday.

Yes. My daughters pediatrician told me about it when he asked if either my wife or I smoked. We answered "No", except for when daddy has a cigar outside. He suggested after I change my shirt if it was very smokey. His concern was not cancer, but asthma. Even a slight increased risk is still a risk and something we should be aware of.

That was the first I ever heard of it though.

Funny this should come up. I was just reading on this topic a couple of days ago. The article I read was in relation to "third hand smoke" or cigar smoke and/or cigarette smoke on clothing, sheets, etc. in relation to SIDS

Or sudden infant death syndrome. In short, the doctors state that the smell of smoke on the clothing and the chemicals from the tobacco can cause an infants brain to feel that it's not receiving enough oxygen and as a result causes the brain to produce something in the body to compensate for the lack of oxygen. They say this can contribute to an increased risk of a child dying from SIDS. They stated that a child with both parents as smokers is 3.5 times more likely to die of SIDS. If just the mother smokes the child is 2.5 times more likely and if only the dad smokes 1.5 times more likely to die of SIDS. The suggested plan of action is to change clothes at the least before having close contact with the child after you have been smoking.

This is the usual law bending crap that caused companies to stop selling very hot coffee of fear that the moron that insists to pour it on his lap might sue.

They want to close the smoke clubs and prohibit us from smoking at our home, and also tax the hell out of it in the process.

*Hmm, now let me see... Some very legitimate concerns I keep in mind:

1) Aspartame (artificial sweetnener called "Equal" in the blue packet) will and does cause heart trouble. Have experienced it myself.

2) No-fat Oleresin (misspelled I know) WILL cause runny bowels, uncontrollable "hershy squirts", and other undesirable effects.

3) Genetically altered seed and corn, and other modified plant growths do have questionable dangers associated with them and are banned in most European nations.

4) Various new chemical compounds designed to fight insects and some fruit and mold problems cause undesired after effects on human and animal cells.

5) And nearly ALL new drug pills introduced by pharmaceutical companies before properly researched have caused people to DIE, let alone get very physically (and mentally) damaged.

All these things go on and on with government blessings. Have killed and damaged more people, scientifically and medically proven so. Have been the reason for more debasement of quality of food, medicine, and the reason old proven cures for ailments no longer work...

...Hey - give me my cigars. LOVE the aroma of cigar smoke wafting through the air when I walk into the tobacco shops (or around my brother-in-law!) Many cigar smokers survive into their NINETY'S, no less than their late 80's, like Zino Davidoff, Milton Berle, and most notable cigar smoker, George Burns. Pick your poison. Choose your boat float. It's just that SOME manufacturers, and who's product is proven outrightly DANGEROUS, have more money and more clout with high officials to not get bothered...or stopped.
