Ken's effort with the kitchen knife looks spectacular. How many broken champagne bottles have been edited out of the video?

I've understand the trick is to have the bottle really cold. Is that why Ken was reaching down - to pull the bottle from an esky full of ice?

By the way, I believe this is traditionally done with a Sabre, not a sword, and definitely not a kitchen knife :D

Well done Ken, to "sabrer le Champagne" is not an easy task.

Yes, Mark of Arabia, The tradition goes back to Napoleon and it's normally done with

a cavalry sword called, un Sabre. :D

Smoothly done there Ken.

I have never seen that done with a chef's knife. We used to do it at mess dinners back in my army/navy days using a sword and needless to say a few mishaps occured along the way.

Very well done! I really enjoy all of the Spitbucket videos but this Mumm video and the Moet one from last week have been stellar.

Good going Ken!

@Famous

Is that the Charlies Angels clip (didn't open the link) Because that's the first time I saw that done as well!

First Spitbucket video I've seen (not a fan of wine, but like champagne) and I LOVE the animated intro!

Also, why is Ken all classy and stylish in the SB videos and we get stuck with the Casual Friday Ken (sounds like a Barbie doll......) :D

ta guys, it was fun. and nothing edited out. first time, every time. almost. there was an unfortunate incident in vietnam when i thought i could use the back of a saw. got it 2nd time. and also one day at jimmy watson's when i stuffed three bottles of roederer. i reckon it works, if you know the tricks, 9.9/10 times.

a cold bottle helps but that is not the main trick.

the great thing is that the pressure means no problem drinking the contents.

as for the the dress on spitbucket - you have to ask? look at the company i am forced to keep on friends!

C'mon ken this is all a bit fancy ... a disgrace when us new worlders pretend to be cultured folks.

Why don't you "come out of the closet" to the wider world, wearing your stubbies and pronouncing Mumm like a true australian?

You'd get on the telly, become a national icon, and soon the owners of vineyards around the world would be queuing up to take a piss off your balcony while the dead snake holds it for them!!

Actually now you've whetted our whistles why don't you actually give us a vid on how to sabre le champagne. Or else you will hear of many injuries round the world in the FoH clan...

Is the trick running the blade down the seam on the bottle, or is there more to it than that?

Keen to give it a shot but would rather not have the bottle explode in my hand :D

I always thought the method of opening a champagne bottle with a sabre was called sabrage? :D
