Ok. as much as I like to have rum and white lemonade with my cigars, 9 times out of 10 i drink beer or stout with my cigars...

Ive never been a big spirit drinker, even though Im irish lol, for me a strong whiskey or cognac competes with the cigars flavours too much... So i love a nice cold pint of beer with my smoke, for me it actually enhances flavour.

My beer of choice in an italian lager called Peroni (5.1%), it has a very distinct flavour and is fantastic with any cigar. Hoegaarden is another beer that goes well, and a pint of guiness with a cigar is a match made in heaven.

So if any folks primarily drink beer with your cigars what is your usual tipple?

Thanks

I don't primarily drink beer with cigars (I'm more of a whisky/wine/gin guy) but I still do fairly often. I have never had a beer that DIDN'T work well with a cigar. During the winter months, I tend to drink the dark, rich porters, stouts, ales, etc and during the summer I'll go with a lighter Pilsner, Lager, etc. and everything works for me! I do enjoy some of the REALLY hoppy IPA's but they maybe don't go quite as well with cigars. I like the hops but I think most breweries have gone WAY overboard with them in alot of their beers...seems to be the cool thing to do now.

When I want a beer with my cigar, I tend to reach for a Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA.

The beer-and-cigar combo just doesn't work for me. I'd rather have beers with my meal, then drink something else with a cigar.

Spot on, though there's no such thing as "a pint of guinness", surely you mean "pints of guinness".

That Peroni is good beer. Most of the time I drink the back water American Domestic swill called Coors Light (economic down turn). A cold 18 box does go down like water. Down side : I end up forgetting how tasty the cigar is. :mob::)

An international selection of pale ales;

Timothy Taylor "landlord"

Little creatures pale ale,

Sierra Nevada pale ale.

Also enjoy a good Belgian Kreik,or peach Lambic.

I'm not going to be much help here as I find drinking beer with a cigar tends to "water down" the flavor of the smoke. 98% of the time I'll just enjoy the cigar by itself, if I do drink while smoking it'll probably be red wine.

Don't really mix beer with cigars but there is one exception. Innis & Gunn. Scottish beer aged in whiskey barrels = excellence. FYI do not get their "blonde" version. It pales in comparison to their regular beer.

Love my beers but the only ones that seem to be compatible with cigars - for my tastebuds - are the dark thick creamy smooth ones. Guinness, Murphy's, the odd chocolate stouts, some porter ales etc

basically most beers a quite watery and/or sour and they seem to bring out all the ashy tanniny flavours in a cigar for me... so i love'em separately and don't mix em... like wives and mistresses (or so i am told :)

Amen.

I brew my own beer and mostly drink only what I brew, IPA's bitters ect. With a cigar, has to be a hoppy malty beer like a marzen or flanders brown for me. Light lagers don't go well with a cigar in my opinion.

I believe I've only tried a stout that Goose Island puts out, but it didn't rank up there for me. You have any particular suggestions that I should check out?

Cigar City Maduro Brown Ale, Old Rasputin, Bells Amber Ale

I always try to pick up some of the Cigar City Maduro when I am down in FLA. Can't get it up here in Canada though. :D

I love a good beer with a cigar. In general, dark, malty & slightly sweet. A few specifics- Bell's Exhibition Stout, Paulaner Salvator, Victory Storm King Stout.

I like IPA's with cigars I perceive as having bitter tastes. I think that the IPA attenuates the bitter so that you can get other flavours in the cigar that are harder to perceive otherwise.

My favorite IPA is made by the 21st Amendment Brewery. Perhaps surprisingly it comes in a can. I can only imagine that this turns some people off, but the company makes a convincing case that cans keep beer fresher. I'm turned around on the can-bottle thing, now.

lots of great beers mentioned already.

I'm mostly a belgiun beer drinker, La Chouffe, Kwak, St. Bernardus, Delirium, Triple Karmeliet.

Also, I think Dogfish head is making some great beers. ******* Brew was fantastic, anyone still finding it or is it all gone?
