asmith Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 We are progressively finding out which Cuban Cigar has the highest rate of member satisfaction (and the lowest). I will run through the 30 most popular cigars during April and will provide an ongoing chart to see how the cigars stack up. It should go without saying to only vote if you have actually tried one Feel free to post your experiences and thoughts on the thread Todays cigar: Partagas Sereis D No4
CBL Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 Love them! But they do tend to be inconsistent, so I voted Average
MoneyPit Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 Average. I've had a really bad run of these with very few that I really enjoyed. They are great when you find one that's on the mark, but there lies the problem.
sblevit Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 Love them and can't believe that they do not rate higher among members here. The 2010s have been great.
investandprosper Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 I love them too, but they are so hit and miss so I voted Average. I've had a few which have blown me away, but I've had many more which fell flat. I'm sitting on a promising box from '08, I think they will turn into gems in a year or so.
kcheek Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 I voted dissapointing and maybe that's not fair, maybe my expectations are too high. But I have had a lot of boxes that are below average IMO and I'm about to give up on them for a while.
coneatty Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 Easily my favorite robusto, and in my top five cigars of all time. Very reasonably priced, too. The fact that you get a dud occasionally...(rarely, so far for me) adds to its charm.
Habanos2000 Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 Can't say I get 'duds', but quite a few 'average' amongst the occasional stand outs.
CohibaBehike Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 Very average, however, I've had absolutely mind F*** great psd4's, but also just garbage.. Seems to be at the mercy of the box I've found
Holysmokes Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 I have a hard time believing that this cigar does not have a higher rating... I do get the occasional dud, but they have been far and few in between.
BatFastard Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 Have only smoked about 10 or so of these. Generally enjoyed at least 8 of em. Maybe just a good box, but I was definitely satisfied.
dicko Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 I kept trying singles and was disappointed, but kept hearing you have to get a "good one" or one when they "are on", so i kept trying then I had a few awesome ones in a row!! I don't like the partagas profile in that size though for some reason.
Deemancpa Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 This was one of favorite sticks until recently 2010, I have had two dud boxes...every few weeks I would smoke one to see if aging has had any sort of impact. One box, is literally green..bad I don't want to give up on them yet..Partagas is my top line.
bassman Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 The only ones I've liked have been 96 or older. Haven't bought any since 06 & that box had no power at all.
Puros Y Vino Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 Always a winner!! I've never had a bad one yet. My box is either the exception or the norm. I have no complaints. My box has 3+ years of age and just gets better everytime I pull one. Having one tonight too!
Cohiba007 Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 Wow. Interesting voting. This is my "go to" stick when I don't want to chance an average smoke.
LowKey Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 The Royal Corona suits my taste perfectly and I always hold stock. The taste, roll quality, look and value have been consistant IMHO.
sg1234 Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 Easily one of my favorites. I have never smoked a bad one. My humidor will never be void of PSD4.
thechenman Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 Partagas is one of my favorite marcas, and I love the flavor profile of the PSD4 and smoke quite a few of them. However, to me the PSD4 is similar to the M4. Both great cigars, but with more than their fair share of construction problems. When they are good, they are great, but I've had more than a few duds and plugged cigars. I voted "Average."
anacostiakat Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 I gotta say I had to vote average on these. I do have some buried away with the hope that they will develope into something I can say I like. Just too many average or below average for me. Too many better sticks in the line.
Murri Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 Have not smoked a lot of these. Had to vote average, have not had a truly great one yet. Maybe the box sleeping away will start to shine.
jedipastor Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 The PSD4 is one my most-smoked CCs (which isn't saying much, I've had like 8 of them). Only one has been stellar, 2 really good. The other 5 were all "fine," but that's it. Maybe they needed more age, I don't know. While they were fine, for the price I can get similar things from the NC world that I enjoy more. (NOTE: that statement isn't meant to bring up the NC vc CC debate, so please don't go there ... just saying that the basic flavors that the PSD4 hits can be found elsewhere for me). The good ones, though, were more unique and I enjoyed those a lot.
Wil Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 I'm working my way through a great box at the moment.
Michel1968 Posted April 15, 2011 Posted April 15, 2011 I've got to say I'm not overly impressed with the PSD4. Sure some boxes are of great quality - a big profile but 'diffuse' on my palet. (a bit like mid-end wood chipped new world wines - and dives for cover...)
