Anyone have experience of the differences (if any) between the two batches?

Originally released as 600 cabs of 50, then re-released as 1200 boxes of 25.

cheers,

Paul

I have a box of the 2009 re-release but not the original release. Wish I could help you out there. If you do know someone that has the original I would love to get my hands on a box and do a comparison.

I've heard that they're very similar; I know ken is a fan, and has smoked many of the 2007, but not sure whether he's tried the later ones.

Some have said that the later one is, in fact, even better (the 2007 suffered maybe from a little greenness?)

heard mixed reviews between the 2. Some say that the re release were the original simones just broken down into box counts of 25. this was due to the lack of sales for the 50 cab.

Others say that the re release were, in fact, another production run and tasted different.

I have both the original 50 cab and the 25 count re release. Both taste the same. No major variances.

Good luck.

How do you rate the cigar?

I hear it's really good....

I have smoked both releases back to back. For me, there was no difference. Both are great cigars. Also, the re-release was in 2008. I know Cubancigarwebsite indicates 2009 but I think this is an error. Both my 25 cabs are 08 box codes.

Been wanting to try these for a while now! Waiting for the right moment to go to the LCDH and light one up.

Yes, actually I noticed that too; unlike trev to make a mistake!

I received my initial 50 cab from a distributor in Canada. Later, when I inquired about the 25 cabs, he told me that these were re-boxed in Cuba from the remaining 50 cabs in order to promote sales. I bought several. I've smoked both, and can identify no differences. These are remarkably good smokes, one of the best Bolivars I've ever had.

I have amended the website to clarify this. The boxes are dated 2008 but were (apparently) not available until 2009.

An email from Havana House dated 11 March 2009 states "The Bolivar Simones do come in boxes of 25. We just started selling them."

This is where the 2009 comes from. Please let me know if anyone purchased these in 2008. :rotfl:

Also, can someone with both the SLB50 and the SLB25 confirm the numbering of the boxes?

They are an excellent Bolivar, one of the only Bolis I like. I have tried from both 50 cabs and 25 - agree with Shrink, no discernible difference

Hey Trevor. Confirmed, the SLB25 production is 1200 and the SLB50 is 600.

Trevor,

50 cab TEB Nov 07 #255/600

25 cab TEB Oct 08 #1070/1200

And I also found no difference when I tried 1 from the 08 cab.
