OH MY G-O-O-O-O-D!!! :lol3: Do I so want those Montecristo No. 2 Gran Reservas!! And I'll betcha they'll be sooooo expensive one wouldn't be able to purchase it with the money from THREE refinanced homes - AND they'll probably be STAY sold out like the Cohiba Gran Reservas and the Montecristo Reserva No. 4 to boot! <_<

Looking forward to the RA!

Also If the Hoyo is the same quality as the Hoyo Piramide was in 2003, it will be worthwhile.

Thanks for posting the photos!

Will certainly buy those RA's. They would look much better without the second band though.

What about those other cigars? - Sorry HSA, not interested at all.

Amen! The old-style band doesn't go with the shiny EL band at all :cigar:

I like the RA old-style bands as well. I'm not a fan too much of RA, and the EL's in recent years have been so-so for me, but depending on reviews and such, I might have to take a peek at the RA's. I like the idea of the Cohibas, but I was hoping that they would stick with the idea of another torpedo release.

The EL's lately have gone to crap, program-wise, with all the short stuff and what-not in the last few years. The original Partagas EL (in 2000 or 2001?) was great, as was the R&J one from 2004. I'm a big fan of the Monte Sublimes and the Cuaba Piramides from 2008, as well as the Trinidad Ingenios from 2007. I know those were hit or miss with some people, but they have been great for me. I just like that we're getting some big stuff again, length-wise, for these EL's. If I'm paying the premium for the hype and the longer aging on the tobacco prior to rolling, then dammit, I want a lot of tobacco in that EL stick to puff away on! The recent extremely-short-and-fat trend has been a bit disappointing with this stuff.

I think Piggy or others have said it before, but I think the best EL release that they could do right now is a couple of good long-and-skinnies (last one being the 2007 Ingenios, I believe).

If they released a Behike, for example, in a lancero format, gawd - could you imagine the sales?!?!!?! Hell, it might even draw people over to some of the other long-and-skinnies in the H S.A. portfolio, and better help some sales. I'd love to see a Diplomaticos blend version of a lancero/especial EL/RE, but we all know that isn't going to happen now - that blend would be wonderful in that format!

I am pretty sure the Trinidad Ingenios is the worst ever performing LE in terms of unit sales.....and that is saying something considering some of the LE competition :)

A key part of the LE program initially was to provide something sexy to retailers on a consistent basis. A little "sizzle" to the steak.

3 LE release, a book, a humidor, + 1-2 new general releases and the retailer had a program of a new release every two months. The Regional Releases helped this along. That was an integral part of the concept. Immensely successful for the first 5 years and has slowly fallen apart after that.

HSA does need to produce LE that will sell. They actually need to provide a genuine numbered LE I believe.

Well, I think I've truely lucked out with my boxes then. Mine are Dic 2007 "SOA" boxes, and seem to be performing well so far. The last one I had was an ass-kicker.

I think that this would be yet another crock of baloney out of H S.A.

A genuine numbered one? And how do we prove that? With those little plastic stick-on tags that show "1275 / 2000"? Just like H S.A. hasn't stayed by their word on other items - 2008 ELs rolled in 2009, Behikes not made in El Laguito, etc. - I have no doubt that even these current releases with these numbered tags aren't being exaggerated/duplicated by H S.A. It's not hard - just roll 2200 boxes, rather than 2000, and stick on duplicate tags. No, no proof of this happening, and this is just a pessimistic view on my part maybe. But, doing this, we would perhaps give H S.A. the initiative and potential to raise the prices on ELs another 5% or 10%, due to this further "exclusiveness" with numerically issued boxes.

They need to improve what's in the boxes first, before the packaging. The short, fat, and stubby trend sucks - AND THIS COMES FROM A ROBUSTO LOVER!!!! I mean, Trini Short Robusto T's anyone?!??!!!:blush:

I agree to a point.

Numbering hould be on the band. Say 150,000 cigars.

Keeping the volume down would improve quality.

However, the secret to improving quality is better pay at the factory (which they cannot do). The System is far more to blame for quality issues than people give credit for. Hard to berrate a slacker earning $20 a month.

Pass for me, I have too much regular production that requires my attention.
