clavettm Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 Hi, James Suckling launched his new Web site. In his blog, you'll find info on cigars. For Guy, and other that speak the "langue de Molière", here are a few interview video clips in French of M. Suckling filmed during his last visit to Montreal for a wine tasting and rating session at the Société des Alcools du Québec (state liquor board). Bon visionnement les amis! Mike
laficion Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 Aside from his very thick American accent, I must admit his french is very good. He gets his message through with a nicely painted view and landscape of his passion. Well done James. I can understand why he left CA, he's become too European.
brian1 Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 I cant listen to him. Something about the way he talks and his pompous accent that grate on me. He is even more annoying when talking about wine and his off the cuff scoring. I am 80 points on him!
Colt45 Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 he's become too European. Poor bastard......
laficion Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 Poor bastard...... I'm 93 points on that..........
Colt45 Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 I'm 93 points on that.......... You're being overly generous
laficion Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 You're being overly generous Only because he lives in Tuscany.
Ken Gargett Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 Good luck to the man... agreed. what we unfortunately seem to have here is what we, in oz, call the tall poppy syndrome.
maalouly Posted February 20, 2011 Posted February 20, 2011 agreed.what we unfortunately seem to have here is what we, in oz, call the tall poppy syndrome. Not sure, but if I was a winemaker being interviewed by someone who would ask a question and start typng away on his keyboard and ignoring what im' saying, would probably politely ask him politely to F*@#@ off , but I guess that's just me. Guy 93 points?! seriously!
Colt45 Posted February 20, 2011 Posted February 20, 2011 Guy 93 points?! seriously! I'm sorry - you were saying?..........
laficion Posted February 20, 2011 Posted February 20, 2011 Anyway, it seems like James has met with some resistance in Montreal Canada and with the wine community there. The translation will just take a few seconds, hold on. http://www.microsofttranslator.com/bv.aspx...216-052504.html
brutusthebuckeye Posted February 20, 2011 Posted February 20, 2011 Was that Mike D from the Beastie Boys???? Atleast somethings kinda cool on Sucklsling website!!!!!! FAIL!!!!
gsmoke Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 With the risk of sounding like a hater: anyone who speaks French with such a heavy American tongue has a questionable palate... Wow.
LeafLover Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 Don't know the guy. Good luck in his endeavors nevertheless.
