I live in Winnipeg, central Canada in the flatland's of the country. According to Wiki, Winnipeg is the coldest city (with a population over 500k) in world, so needless to say smoking cigars can be a challenge. My solution? An ice fishing shack fit with heat, cat5 for internet and a slingbox for my satellite television! LMAO. Call me crazy, here is a pic of the "Clam" and a few others of the landscape of the yard.

Looks good, could we see inside? Ive never seen anything like it before. Is it just a "tent-like" structure?

Exactly. It is a glorified tent. It's small so taking pictures inside is tough. It is 6' x 5'. Not much in there but a chair, heater and a cooler that I use for a table for the laptop. I'll drag the camera in there later today when I go for a cigar and post the pic for you.

Nice Tarks! Yes we do have a challange here in the Peg. I'm fortunate to have a garage with four infrared heaters, and a propane patio heater to smoke in during the winter months so I can still get my weekly cigar nights in. The only downside of that is the size of the garage is quite big to heat and not enough air movement. We have been looking to put some bathroom fans in for a bit of air ventilation.

Hey as they say "when there is a will, there is a way!"

That is what I have been doing for years. Smoking in my garage. But as you indicated, takes a while to heat up. The wife was getting cranky too, the smell was making its way into the house and her car so I went this route. The shack takes a minute to heat, even at -30 Celsius. My summer project is to build a large man cave in the yard that will be heated/cooled year round.

I love it. Maybe this is a silly question, but how do you ventilate The Clam?

Ventilation isn't much of a problem. The canvas does allow air to vent through. Also, on each side of the shack there are zippered doors. I unzip about 10" on each end and put beer cans in to hold the zipper open. This allows a breeze to flow through, venting the smoke and bringing fresh air in at the same time.

Great Rig! Although its not as cold, I feel every winter smokers' pain...

My solution is to smoke in my Garage. I use a SmokeEater and Kerosene heater, otherwise, the smoke was fumigating the house and cars in the garage!

No worries... probably did miss it. Either way, it's pure dedication as far as I'm concerned!! :potty:

The weather is actually nice here today. -8 Celsius. Here is what it was last week! Very common in Jan/Feb here.

I vote "Dedicated". It's tough grabbing a smoke in the Great White North, especially when your own home is off limits. I was lucky that we had a mild zero degrees Celsius evening yesterday. I took out a PSD4 and enjoyed the hell out of it.

looks like you would need snow shoes and a Saint Bernard just to get out there and back.

How hilarious is the name? you can't write comedy like that.

"Honey, I'm headed out to the clam"

to funny

Yup. That is exactly how the conversation goes, ended with my wife saying, "enjoy it, it's the only clam you're getting tonight"!

That's the beauty of a cigar. Guaranteed to put out. And if it doesn't quite live up to standards, trade it in on another.
