adic88 Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 Dunno why the American insist on calling football soccer? The English invented the game, let them call it whatever they want! Usually by now, we have a good idea who is going to win it as we're well past the half way point of the season. My money goes to Arsenal. But i'm happy my team Newcastle is doing well!
rckymtn22 Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 Well we know it isn't going to be Liverpool. Just hoping it isn't Manchester United
OZCUBAN Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 Well we know it isn't going to be Liverpool. Just hoping it isn't Manchester United Couldn't agree more ,but for me my moneys on MAN CITY go the sky blues
Ken Gargett Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 Couldn't agree more ,but for me my moneys on MAN CITY go the sky blues will always be soccer to me. could not agree more about man u. they are the dallas cowgirls of soccer. after watching the glorious gunners against the thuggee blues this morning, i suspect neither of them. how the gunners didn't score 8 is beyond me. man city have a top keeper but even so, it was an extremely one sided affair. but if arsenal can't put those games away, they won't, and won't deserve to, win the flag. and how on earth is man city going to win if it can't score goals. not one single shot on goal. and how many squillions did they spend? what a waste. at least when chelsea failed to have a shot on goal against us, they copped a flogging. had arsenal got up this morning, i'd be reasonably confident. now, i think no chance. and smithy, there is still a possibility that liverpool might avoid relegation.
ZinZan Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 Well we know it isn't going to be Liverpool. Just hoping it isn't Manchester United X2........ It is sad sad season.

As a proud Man City supporter of 20+ years I still can't believe we are in the top 4....with money Keep in mind for 18 of those years I have been following we played to avoid relegation! Saw this mornings game V Arsenal and Arsenal were by far the better side but if they can't win that one with effectively their best side on the paddock at home..they are no chance for the flag. Neither are City unless they can get David Silva back in the mid field. We are a year away from the flag. Man U have this year all but wrapped up given they are not playing great football and still winning.
Hugomarink Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 I think Man U will take it as well, but the Spurs are going to win the Champions League!
khomeinist Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 Tottenham Hotspur. Every North London supporter knows that the Goons are pure shite and that Spurs raise trophies on years ending in 1. The inventors of sexy football (ha) will find a way in 2011.
Ken Gargett Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 Spurs are going to win the Champions League! and i'm a pink unicorn
Montaigut Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 and i'm a pink unicorn Invitation to visit from Pigfish incoming. Strongly advised you politely refuse!
FireDigger Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 Tottenham Hotspur. That's words of wisdom! I just started watching soccer less than a year ago. For some reason, the Spurs got my support.
strayvector Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 ManU will win it. The only question is whether they can go undefeated and match the unbeaten Arsenal side of the Bergkamp/Ljunberg era.
strayvector Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 Still hoping for the Magpies to return to their Shearer glory days and for the Saints to return to topflight...but not holding my breath.
Ken Gargett Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 ManU will win it. The only question is whether they can go undefeated and match the unbeaten Arsenal side of the Bergkamp/Ljunberg era. no chance. and it will be the gunners at emirates who ends it.
winelover Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 A welcome distraction from the cricket? I tend to think the gooners have their best chance in ages. No standout team this year so will be interesting
adic88 Posted January 7, 2011 Author Posted January 7, 2011 Still hoping for the Magpies to return to their Shearer glory days and for the Saints to return to topflight...but not holding my breath. Carroll is looking like the best English striker the Premiership has seen in years. He buzzes around with the energy of a Tevez, and has a shot as hard and powerful as Shearer ever did. The only thing he needs to polish on is his positioning and tactical awareness.
jayro75 Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 ManU will win it. The only question is whether they can go undefeated and match the unbeaten Arsenal side of the Bergkamp/Ljunberg era. It would be quite impressive if they can match the "Invincibles"considering the weakness of the squad and the poor away form they've shown so far this year. I doubt they will and don't think Ferguson cares as long as they lift the trophy. If Rooney starts playing decently in any way and they show any kind of form going forward it's all but locked up for United. If United don't lift the trophy I'm ok with anyone but City seeing as Liverpool has been a total disaster once again.
urs Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 Leeds will be back in the Premiere League next year
Esteban77 Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 Dunno why the American insist on calling football soccer? The English invented the game, let them call it whatever they want! Soccer is actually a British term derived from Association Football and was used for about 18 years before the term "football" became popular. So, soccer it is and go United.
Ken Gargett Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 Leeds will be back in the Premiere League next year they'll get a chance to see how they might measure up tonight in the FA cup against the glorious gunners!!
Hugomarink Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 Leeds will be back in the Premiere League next year I lived in London for a year in the early '70s when I was a kid and Leeds was one of the top teams back then. How'd they fall so far? I remember Derby County was also up there. Of course that was before the EPL -- the top division back then was Division 1.
FireDigger Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 Blackpool leading ManU 2-0?? Am I seeing this correctly?
tmac77 Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 Blackpool leading ManU 2-0?? Am I seeing this correctly? Yes you were reading it correctly but now it's 2-2.
