bassman Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 Bolivar PCs and MC#4 are far above the rest- but you must get HQ/PSP MC#4s because there's a lot of mediocre ones out there. I'd say Bolivar is the most consistant. #3 is PC del Punch- mainly because I usually don't like Punch cigars, but this one is the exception. Been pretty disappointed in PLPCs. Not bad, but can't see why people rave about them so much.
PigFish Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 I don't really think there is a PC that I don't like. They all come off the same tables. There are still some favorites. Rob you left off the Partagas PC; some of the best marevas that I ever smoked. The RA is another. Someone told me that the RAPC is fetching $800 a box! Jesus!!! At that price I might just have to say "Sold" to what I have instead of smoking them. I also like the RGPC and the PLPC. The fact of the matter though is I think that the PLPC is actually sliding a bit. The reintroduced cigars were fantastic, while I find the newer vintage good but not the same. Good thread amigo. PC's are tops. I have likely smoked more PC's than any combination of other cigars. Frankly a PC/Marevas is typically a far better choice than a robusto (imho). - Yoda Piggy
perfectform Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 My tastes seem to be in line with the majority that voted. I voted Bolivar, PLPC and Dip 4 (RIP)
in0gravity Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 For me it's the Por Larranaga, which is my go to mareva, and the Dip 4. Shame that they have been discontinued.
investandprosper Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 Cohiba Siglo II, Bolivar PC, and Monte 4 have been great for me lately. I have some PLPCs in the humi from '07, but they could use another year. That's the only downside to the PLPC!
SethLG Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 This was tough, but the Boli and Por Larranaga are the ones for me.
El Presidente Posted August 3, 2010 Author Posted August 3, 2010 Yoda Pig Partagas and Ramon Allones are actually on the list. Agreed...I love PC and would take one over a Robusto every time. A grammatical misunderstanding; I know it is on the list and that I was not clear in saying that the Partagas AND the RA were some of my favorites, not both missing from the list. Sorry! I think KG writing style is rubbing off on me!
ChanceSchmerr Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 I am still exploring the PCs....I love the PLPC as most seem to here, and the Diplo 4s are classics for me now as well...... I am desperate to try the ERDM and SLR PC's.......still have yet to find them from where I trust! Ray.......Your PC pics are mouthwatering. Enjoy those long lost Partys and RA's in good health!
CanuckSARTech Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 I voted for Dip 4's, Monte 4's, and R&J Cedros No. 3. The Dip and Monte 4's are definite for me. But, for the R&J (my other corona go-to), it isn't actually the Cedros Deluxe - my fave is the Coronitas en Cedro. I know the sizing is just a bit off (a 40 ring gauge, compared to a 42 for a "proper" Petit Corona format), but I actually think that this is the best in the R&J lineup for corona-related sticks. One of the best experiences for the value, IMO. On another note, I too also heavily enjoy the Punch Royal Selection No. 12, and I can't for the life of me think of why they would discontinue that one. It's a very underated stick, and one that's an inside winner for those in the know. I can see them coming back, hopefully.
SamuraiJack Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 Nice to see my tastes match with the masses. Boli PC and PLPC are amazingly complex, rich and consistent.
LeafLover Posted August 5, 2010 Posted August 5, 2010 I wanna give a shout out to the Partagas Petite Coronas Especiales. I was reading some of the banter between a couple of our members (Guy I know for sure) who was talking about it and I bought a box out of curiosity. This mareva is great! Have smoked 5 in the 2 weeks since I've had it. Flavorwise, I would say it is a combination of a PLPC and a Parti Short. And, the dam cigars are only 4 months old! 2nd box is on the way.
Habanakane21 Posted August 5, 2010 Posted August 5, 2010 Damn I was waiting for some PSP Bolivar PC to show up tonight while Rob was doing his thang!!! may next time!
thechenman Posted August 5, 2010 Posted August 5, 2010 My favorite PCs in order (which I voted for) are: #1 - Por Larranaga Petit Corona #2 - Punch Royal Seleccion No. 12 #3 - Montecristo No. 4 Coming in 4th if I had the vote would have been the Romeo y Julieta Cedros DeLuxe No. 3. I too prefer PCs over Robustos and smoke them often during the colder months. I'd also echo the feeling here about the loss of the RS12. Truly tragic. One can only hope in comes back in a decade like the PLPC's return. And yes...there are some bad Monte 4s, and many mediocre ones, but the ones that are on more than make up for the rest...
Mel Posted August 5, 2010 Posted August 5, 2010 Coronas and Petit Coronas are the benchmark vitolas and RG of 42 is optimal. Boli,Monte #4 and PLPC are my favorites.
bjm Posted August 5, 2010 Posted August 5, 2010 I smoke more Boli PCs but really enjoy the occaisional Trini Reyes. Those are my top two of the PCs I've tried so far. Too bad I couldn't vote for the Trini. Don't want HSA to use this survey as an excuse to drop it next year!
cigaraholic Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 At least one other person voted for RyJ PC. First loves are hard to forget, especially when they keep showing up, like this box I just broke into from 05.
El Presidente Posted August 9, 2010 Author Posted August 9, 2010 I really can't argue with any of the selections made. Great to see Monte 4 holding its own amongst Bolivar and PLPC.
Leopolis Semper Fidelis Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 Cohiba Siglo II Diplomáticos No. 4 Ramón Allones Petit Coronas (but not necessarily in that order)
SirSmokeALot Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 Great topic....thanks for that survey Rob. As for me....I think with a couple of years of sleep you can't go wrong with a Monte #4!! By FAR my favorite Petite Corona. Just can't beat that sweet milk chocolate flavor and cedary aroma. If you're talking straight out of the box smoking I enjoy the PLPC. Diplo #4 I have yet to try but with all the praise I'm hearing here it's about time I purchased a few.
CanuckSARTech Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 I vote to bring back the Montecristo Open line. Oh, they haven't gotten rid of it yet???

Seems that most people agree on those.
