Hi All,

I was wondering how long you guys reccomend letting custom rolled cigars age before smoking them? I got some Reynolda's in two months ago and wasn't sure how long to let them sit, before I start smoking them.

Thanks guys,

Kris

Not sure really. Got 5 custom Piramides a week ago. Smoked 2 the first day. They seemed maybe too fresh and had a tight draw. Smoked 1 more yesterday, the draw had already improved. But still did'nt seem ready to smoke. So I think I'll bury the last 2 and forget about them for a while.

For me, the fresher the better. Best cigar I ever had was a Taboada super robusto 30 minutes after he rolled it. :cigar:

I would say let them hide somewhere for a year before having them, just try one and then set the rest. You can't go wrong with a year as an initial settling.

If it were me, I'd definitely try one soon.

No doubt Ross!

Really depends. If they are real "wet", I like to wait till they dry out a bit. It can vary greatly. Ive had some that are amazing right from the get go and others, like some Santos Shaggy Coronas that were overly strong and wild that have been in the humi for a year now that are just amazing cigars. I would definitely smoke one and make a decision based on the way it smokes...but, I am certainly one whom smokes the hell out of a cigar if its on - aint no need to wait in my book - you aren't promised tomorrow!

I love to smoke them FRESH, other wise I would follow the advice that is found

on the boxes of RG, smoke them within a month they were rolled or else wait

at least a year for them to mature. :cigar:

Hey Kris!

I have two sizes of those and have smoked two of one and one of the other. I waited a month before smoking the first one and then another month before I smoked another.

They are excellent! :love::cigar:

Get the foot of the cigar right up to your nose and INHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALE!!!

OK. If you are dizzy and spinning around......they need a bit longer.

Absolutely. I have had quite a few custom rolled, and the magic of these is in smoking them super fresh!! Of course, all the ones I have had (Taboada, Juan Escobar, Rodolfo Beltran, Virginia Cansino, Norma Fernandez) also have tasted superb with age. But I would ABSOLUTELY recommend smoking at least 1/3-1/2 of them young.

OK, I've been smoking Havana cigars for 15 years, and I've never seen or smoked a custom rolled. Where do you guys get these things (NOT a source question - I mean do you buy them online, in your B+M, or in Cuba). Please, relieve me of my ignorance!

I just won 2 Hamlets in a review contest here, but other than that I am not sure. Maybe if you happen to be at a shop where the roller makes a special appearance? I wish I new for sure.

I like the powewr of smokeing them fresh. As time goes on , you will actually notice them into a sick period. Then just wait a year or 2

Generally they are bought in Cuba, and can be remarkably good value. The rollers are often working at LCDH and the factory shops. It's technically illegal to bring more than 20 (maybe 23) unbanded, unboxed cigars out of the country with you though... People compare favourites like sports fans - it's great and there are a few famous roller / vitola combos, like the 'Monsdale'.
