Some distributors have taken it to an extreme (disappointingly)

While I prefer the round shape and can understand a potential vintage difference, I have found no "inherent" difference between the quality of a cigar based on the box it was packaged in. I think this is more of an elitist cigar book author wives tale. I do remember a day when some tubos I had exhibited the reputation of being a facade that covered a an ugly cigar but I can't say there there is verifiable evidence to make that more than a rumor either. Enjoy your fine "land of the lost" cigars and don't fret the box. I have one more full cab that I hesitate to break but will undoubtedly after the last of my singles have gone. -Piggy

I agree...I had a 50 cab from 9/01, and after smoking 9 or so, I sold the rest off because they were just that bad....bland and tight draws on all of them.
bassman Posted July 15, 2010 Posted July 15, 2010 IMHO, 02 was by far the best year for Partagas Lonsdales. I've had examples from 99 - 02. Also, this is the ONLY cigar I've smoked where I taste significant difference in flavor between DB and cab versions. And finally, 05 ERDM Tianos are the best cigars I've smoked from that year. If I could afford them now, they would have been sold the first day I saw them. Sadly, I also have a serious Bordeaux habit.
