jacksfull Posted May 8, 2010 Posted May 8, 2010 What's the make-up of size selections in your humidor? I had a little too much time on my hands today, so I did a quick & dirty analysis of my current stock of CC's. Here's what I found, in round numbers: Small & Thin = 10% (Short Panatelas/Chicos) Long Skinnies = 20% (Laguito 1 & 2/Dalias/etc..) Traditional Medium Sizes = 40% (PC/Corona/CG) Shorties = 15% (Minutos/Perlas) Short & Plump = 10% (Robustos/Hermosos no.4) Big & Tall = 5% (Churchills/DC/Piramides/Campanas) Expected: No surprise that the middle two categories account for over 50%. I smoke more PC's than anything, and to me the Minutos are just an abbreviated trip down the same road. Surprises: I hadn't realized that the larger RG's of the last two categories were such a small portion of my current collection of CC's. Maybe I smoked them up? No, not so much as to influence the numbers to that degree. I guess I just don't buy them as much as I thought. On that same note, I really had no idea the Small & Thins would outdistance the Big & Talls by double. I write that off to price, more than anything. Time is also a factor. I was considerably more surprised at having twice as many Long Skinnies as Robustos (in CC's). With NC's, Robustos & Torpedos tend to be my "go to" sizes lately. Maybe it's just that decent NC's in smaller RG's seem harder to find nowadays, so I gravitate toward them in CC's where they shine (same issue would seem to apply to PC/Corona/CG's that were once my bread & butter NC's).
cadillacdoc Posted May 8, 2010 Posted May 8, 2010 Never Really thought about this but if I had to guess? Mine would be.......... Small & Thin = 1% (Panatelas/Chicos) Long Skinnies = 1% (Laguito 1 & 2/Dalias/etc..) Traditional Medium Sizes = 13% (PC/Corona/CG) Shorties = 0% (Minutos/Perlas) Short & Plump = 30% (Robustos/Hermosos no.4) Big & Tall = 55% (Churchills/DC/Piramides/Campanas
Jesuscookies Posted May 8, 2010 Posted May 8, 2010 Interesting 10% Shorties Petite Corona's 10%Minutos Half Coronas 50% Short and Plump Robusto's 25% Traditional Medium Sizes PC Corona Gordas 5% Big and Tall Churchills/Piramides
mkz Posted May 8, 2010 Posted May 8, 2010 Small & Thin = 5% (Short Panatelas/Chicos) Long Skinnies = 0% (Laguito 1 & 2/Dalias/etc..) Traditional Medium Sizes = 80% (PC/Corona/CG) Shorties = 5% (Minutos/Perlas) Short & Plump = 5% (Robustos/Hermosos no.4) Big & Tall = 5% (Churchills/DC/Piramides/Campanas)
ChanceSchmerr Posted May 8, 2010 Posted May 8, 2010 If you're looking at my buying habits, best to see my Online Locker, that i've been filling up since January this year....17 boxes so far this year. I'll add a couple of boxes from a friend in Cuba....plus some purchases from other sources... The breakdown since January 2010... Total cigars - 22 boxes - 500 cigars Small & Thin = 0% (Short Panatelas/Chicos) Long Skinnies = 30% (Laguito 1 & 2/Dalias/etc..) Traditional Medium Sizes = 46% (PC/Corona/CG) Shorties = 0% (Minutos/Perlas) Short & Plump = 4% (Robustos/Hermosos no.4) Big & Tall = 20% (Churchills/DC/Piramides/Campanas) The numbers are skewed because I'm stocking up on discontinueds.....but it does mirror my preferences of late!
Colt45 Posted May 9, 2010 Posted May 9, 2010 I'm a little to lazy to do the math, but I lean toward these formats and similar: churchill, dalia, corona gorda.
dicko Posted May 9, 2010 Posted May 9, 2010 I would say 50% petit corona or tres-petit corona. 30% robusto 15% corona gorda/lonsdale etc 5% long-skinny I would like to expand my corona gorda/lonsdale and long skinny category. I like the 42-46 ring guage and a bit of length. I just seem to buy more robustos and petit corona because they are the cigars that always go on special, widely available etc. I think my example is one where the market is leading the buyer to an extent!! Also want to try more DC's churchills but time/money are mitigating factors. Thanks for the thread!
Omskakas Posted May 9, 2010 Posted May 9, 2010 Mine: Small & Thin = 7% (Short Panatelas/Chicos) Long Skinnies = 10% (Laguito 1 & 2/Dalias/etc..) Traditional Medium Sizes = 33% (PC/Corona/CG) Shorties = 5% (Minutos/Perlas) Short & Plump = 15% (Robustos/Hermosos no.4) Big & Tall = 30% (Churchills/DC/Piramides/Campanas) Nothing surprising. I'm smoking mostly petit coronas or "big & tall" smokes, robustos coming third and it looks like I've bought smokes I like.
mazolaman Posted May 9, 2010 Posted May 9, 2010 for me it's Stangard sizes,ie corona 40% robusto etc 50% Bigguns 10%
Warren Posted May 9, 2010 Posted May 9, 2010 Buying habits What size? \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ Well I found a place in the city that has a good stock and one size fits all.
bassman Posted May 9, 2010 Posted May 9, 2010 I have a good amount of everything with two noticable anomolies. I don't buy anything less than 38 ring gauge or over 50, and I have a lot more DCs & Churchills than most people. Being retired, I have the time for long leasurely smokes.
LeafLover Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 Corona gorda, petite coronas, marevas, minutos (quantity in that order from most to least) comprises 95% of my CC inventory. Remaining 5 percent are pyramides.
MrGlass Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 Traditional Medium Sizes = 90% Long Skinnies = 10% It wasn't until I started buying cigars that I realised how time poor I was. I love larger cigars, but until I can get to a stage where I'm buying stock to put away, my buying habits will probably continue in a similar fashion.
Cubanface Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 50% Churchills, Pyramides. 30% Short and Plump. 10% Long and Skinny. 10% Short and Skinny.
Cambridge1 Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 Mine... I plan on buying more medium and tall in the near future. Small & Thin = 10% (Panatelas/Chicos) Long Skinnies = 10% (Laguito 1 & 2/Dalias/etc..) Traditional Medium Sizes = 20% (PC/Corona/CG) Shorties = 8% (Minutos/Perlas) Short & Plump = 35% (Robustos/Hermosos no.4) Big & Tall = 17% (Churchills/DC/Piramides/Campanas
