I can't agree on that one Guy He is not a kid. He is a brilliant sporstman and a corporation. He chooses how he wants to be portrayed, which "marketing angle" he takes. He took the Nike money and ran the superman/superhuman line. I saw the new Nike commercial this morning with Tiger staring at the camera and his (dead) fathers words being played in the background. It made me sick to the core. There is nothing he nor his marketing team will do, no depth too low. That is just my opinion. Many will disagree and that is fine.

Did you notice his wife has been seen quite often sporting Nike logo's head to toe since the "reconcilliation"? Comming soon to a broken marriage near you........Nike marriage counselling.

You know, I completely agree with you; It is BS, and it's all decided by marketing people. But I don't understand why he shouldn't do whatever maximizes his earnings. If he's a corporation, as you say, this comes under 'maximizing shareholder value'. Is it more hypocritical than Exxon commercials touting all their 'investments' in renewable sources of energy, if in actuality they've spent more on the ad campaign than on the research? Or on their commercials telling us what a great 'corporate citizen' they are, even as they continue to refuse to pay for the cleanup of the Valdez spill in Alaska? Is Tiger Woods more or less of a hypocrite than Exxon?

Guest rob Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 If I may - Discussions like this, about the man and his character, show me how far removed I am from all the drama his infidelities caused. Because quite frankly, I dont give a ****. Not one iota. I just want to see every shot or putt he ever takes on a golf course. Once he signs the card at the end of the round - I dont really care what he does till he tees it back up on the first hole in the next round.

Through his latest add...he is making his Character the issue.

Rob, I'm not in any disagreement with you on this, I also find it disgustful. Tiger Woods and how he markets his image is not my concern. all I'm saying is that society will buy any BS you throw it's way as long as it looks clean and pure with any and all virtuous repenting persons or companies, being Exxon for polluting with a straight face or Woods who now will tell you that the only use of his tool will be for pissing. Where in the world can you see a girl like Paris Hilton, who has done NOTHING in the world of culture or the arts, become a " celebrity". If Tiger Woods was just playing great golf, he would be nowhere today. WELL , then who is buying all this BS that is functioning sooo well ??

You are preaching to the converted my friend I don't watch commercial TV, I loathe the cult of celebrity. I do wonder if we are in the minority or it is what the media wants us to believe. Either way the end result is the same. Continuous drivel and pap be it tacky reality shows, paper thin news broadcasts or soft porn MTV aimed at 7-15 year olds. I have just had enough. Woods isn't being hounded by a media circus he is the circus ringleader in this instance. End of my rant for the week
smll2 Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 It's been six months since Tiger played in a golf tournament....and 6 years since he played in a golf tournament without lipstick on his lucky underwear....so I don't know where he will end up at Augusta....stolen from Jimmy Kimmel....
