Bartolomeo Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 -Got a box of these earlier in the week -Semi-wrinkled wrapper, box press, Matte oily finish, wrapper was super thin -Pre draw was floral and airy -Initial puff was sugary, light and aged tobacco -Early on is Light in Profile but with lots of flavor, 6 months ago when I started smoking I wouldn’t of liked this thinking it was too weak but I have come to appreciate classy cigars -Ash only last an 1” before saying Arrivederci -Aged tobacco, floral nodes, toasted sugar all seduce me in 1/3 -Excellent cigar so far as the flavors and complexity continue to build -Minimal smoke at rest, smooth aftertaste of that sweet-tobacco taste, very enjoyable -Have to smoke this slow to entice the flavors to come out and play -2/3 starts with some dry-sweetness, like a powder donut along with some floral and minimal Paprika -Cigar is very chewy at this point with sweet-leather flavors but not too strong, lovely! -Cigar ends with continued dry-sweetness, Medium in body along with floral-leather flavors -Wonderful cigar and such a shame they don’t make them anymore -This cigar made me realize how much I have learned in the past couple of months to take my time and enjoy the complexity of a well aged cigar -9.25/10 Bart
dochowl Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 Awesome. I love seeing reviews like this where 10+ year old cigars are really coming alive. Keep up the good work.
Buch0 Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 Mate what a treat they sound like, not often you find that flavour profile in any of the younger stock around these days. I love how you could tell they are 10 yrs + just by looking at the wrapper. That real velvety, light whispy thin wrapper is none exist on current production cigars. Big shout out to your reviews aswell Bart, they are a pleasure to read and the effort you put in for the photos and notes is much appreciated (even if you do make me jealous with some of your stock). Keep smoking and keep them coming mate
finecigar Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 Perfect review of a perfect cigar. It definitely is a shame they do not make these anymore, but it makes them that much more special. The box you received looks beautiful- close to flawless. I agree with the past two comments. And I just love aged cigars- preferably ones like these with a true character that will never let you down. Thanks Bart!
ChanceSchmerr Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 excellent review as always, Bart! Add this lonsdale to the list of cigars i'd do anything to try.....along with every other discontinued lonsdale out there haha!
thechenman Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 Nice review Bart. Never had the pleasure of one of thes lonsdales, but I love the ERDM marca...especially the Choix Supreme. Lunch Club is a close second.
PigFish Posted February 27, 2010 Posted February 27, 2010 These cigars are classics, like may of the lost lonsdale family. Ryan my friend, keep up the good work. -Piggy
