Rob's topic the other day about sampling had me wishing I had that walk-in I dream about. Due to logistics and greed it's just not possible to sample my cigars as I should. I just make sure I have something from every size available to smoke, so when I run out of a size I open another box of something usually base on what's oldest.

I smoke a lot of Minuto's because it's the perfect 35 minute drive to and from work cigar for me. After polishing off a great box of 06 El Principe I felt like some RA, having many boxes of RASCC with this code I thought I'd use this for my work smoke even though it's a little early for 08's to me. Opened a box and was visually disappointed, pale wrappers with no oily sheen, not a good start. The cigars smoked like they looked, OK but nothing to get excited about.

Opened a second box the other day and was much happier with the wrapper shade and oil content. The other thing I noticed was these cigars were rolled like bricks, extremely solid. Of course I couldn't wait for a work day and decided to smoke one immediately. Right from the start I got beautiful gingerbread and coffee flavors, a medium full body cigar. Put it down to take a picture of it in the ash tray and when I came back to it the pedal went to the floor. So glad I was sitting down and not driving, otherwise I'd have ended up in a ditch. All the flavors rolled together to make an undefinable bomb.

Strike two was it burned perfectly for around an hour, so I can't use them for my work ride. These need a lot more time to mellow out. Thought about opening another box but chickened out, opened a box of 08 PL Panetelas instead.

How do these age actually? I've never smoked one from before 2008 because they're delicious now (love the little bite it gives) and worked my way through 2 boxes (third on the way) Can't really see myself putting these away for a long time as they're just too delicious :)

One thing I know about cuban cigars, they love to throw curve balls. Sounded like that's just what you got. Maybe the roller went a little heavy with the ligero LOL

Love to read all reviews, thanks brother :lol3:

Me, too! A cab lasts a year so I'd have to buy four cabs to eventually get the "present" one to be 5YO. :stir:

The 2008 RASCC were very good when young. Strong and spicy, reminding me a lot of the late, great RA 898. Of late, they're in a sick period. When they come out, they'll be excellent.

PErhaps the second box was better because it is PL & not RA.

These little things will smack you right upside the head, pretty delicious though if you're in the mood for an intense smoke. I'm 4 or 5 into a box from March 08 and so far so good.

I think Shrink has nailed this one in that RASCC from 08 were brilliant fresh but many went to sleep. I find this quite a bit with the RASCC, more than most.
