Smoke_Eater Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 If you didn't see the HBO Miniseries Band of Brothers, I highly recommend it. Tom Hanks & Steven Spielberg have teamed up again to bring us The Pacific. Should be coming out in the next couple of months. Here's the trailer.

ucla695 Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 I loved BoB and can't wait for this to come out! Thanks for putting it on my radar.
shrink Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 I never tire of watching "Band of Brothers". I really look forward to the sequel "Pacific". My father was a Marine combat officer who fought on Guadalcanal, and led amphibious landings on Iwo Jima and Okinawa. God rest his soul. I've read everything I can about the Pacific Island battles, and this should be a moving experience. Spielberg and Hanks are an unbeatable combination.
ipfoley Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 Thanks for the heads up! I really enjoyed the BOB book and series. I'm really looking forward to this now!
roughrider Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 I saw the trailer awhile ago. This is going to be great.
thechenman Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Thanks for the link. I loved Band of Brothers too. Have two copies of the DVD set. Why two? I don't know...looking forward to this next installment.
KurtE Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 Band of Brothers was probably the best production I've seen. The Pacific no doubt will be top quality too. Can't wait. I think one episode is even called 'Melbourne'
dicko Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 just finished the last episode of Band of Brothers. excellent series. also looking forward to The Pacific
android Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 This kicks off March 14th!!linky can't wait
Habanos2000 Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 I'm a big BoB fan as well. As my Dad was a Marine dog handler in the Pacific during WWII, island hopping for all the main battles, I can't wait to see this.

Ken Gargett Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 really enjoyed BoB, especially that episode where they stumble on the concentration camp. brought home not only how horrific it was for those interned in them but how gutwrenching it must have been to discover them. some people cannot rot in hell long enough. looking forward to the pacific - been getting lots of promos here so should be on soon. i was named after my dad's uncle, with whom he was very close. he was killed on the kokoda trail in WWII. when i was in PNG a decade or so ago (hell, must be nearly two decades now i guess), i went out to the war graves (immacutely kept). found his grave. brought photos back home. i had not realised that the family had believed he was just buried out in the jungle. no one had ever told them his body was recovered and buried in the official cemetery. for my dad, his brother and their aunt, it was extraordiarily emotional.
finecigar Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 Thanks for the link. What a masterpiece Band of Brothers is.
MIKA27 Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 I must say, I am looking forward to watching this new series. Band of brothers was amazing as I am sure, The pacific will be also. Makes you really appreciate what was sacrificed for us and our future.
SandmanTR Posted March 20, 2010 Posted March 20, 2010 BoB was amazing. Great cast, great episodes and great storyline. There's just something amazing and awe inspiring about films based on the "Greatest Generation".
reg Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 I've been meaning to watch band of brothers, I need to find time. How is the Pacific? I'm guessing very similar to Band
gfoster Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 IMO The Pacific is good, but nowhere near as good as BoB. -- Gary F.
rckymtn22 Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 Watched part 1 last night, it was okay, hopefully the series is going to get better.
SandmanTR Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 Part 2 last night. A bit better but I'm just not feeling the closeness for the characters like I did for the BoB crew. Not sure why.
KurtE Posted April 15, 2010 Posted April 15, 2010 I haven't watched yet but my sister says what everyone else is and that BoB is much much better but I reckon it will need a few more episodes than 2 to make that decision
