Bartolomeo Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 Heard stories about a lot of these having a tough draw or sometimes plugged........this was true with my cigar Bought a couple of singles of these Initial is cream/wood Cut the tip off some more after I had problems with the draw Great flavors if it wasnt plugged, will have to try some new ones to see how they perform Flavors included honey, cream, wood, mild spice but too much, salt, cocoa, butter cookie is a good descripotion (from other review), dried fruit Rock hard, maduro colored wrapper, well built but hard Light-medium in body but lots of flavor Had to relight twice Again, I loved the flavor but the tight draw prevented this from being too great of an experience Flavor wise 9/10 but if you include draw as part of the review, I would say 8.8/10 Going to find a 2008 box and see how it goes Bart
thechenman Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 Bart... I love the RGs as well and agree with you, but many of mine have been rock hard near the band which has affected the draw. Still I haven't given up on these as the flavors are phenomenal for such a light cigar.
PigFish Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 I think these are phenomenal cigars but you can't smoke a drill rod! Many of the '01's are stiff but worth the effort. They have got to be really dry to smoke in most instances.
SixburghDynasty Posted November 28, 2009 Posted November 28, 2009 Have smoked a bunch of these from 2001 and yes they have all been tighter draws, not unsmokable though. Very distinct floral flavors imo. One of my favorite cigars.
dball Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 I went through one box of tent pegs... this second box I'm on, though, perfect draws throughout. Halfway through the box and no plugs yet. Wish me luck on the other 6 or so boxes...
jquest63 Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 Nice review! RG Corona Extra are a favorite, I thoroughly enjoy the rich, unique flavor and complexity. Try a cigar poker next time, but practice on cheap smokes first if you're not experienced with one. RG with age are a real treat.
Jimmy2 Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 Have a nice box of 01 which are smoking very nice but the 08's i have are more complex overall just excellant!!!
josie67 Posted December 21, 2009 Posted December 21, 2009 I went through one box of tent pegs... this second box I'm on, though, perfect draws throughout. Halfway through the box and no plugs yet. Wish me luck on the other 6 or so boxes... Yup, I got a box of 2001's back in April, and the entire box, without fail, was full of tent pegs. Was a real shame.
