So i decided to do a review after being inspired by Rob, Smithy, and Ken's reviews. Why not do a battle of the Divinos from two different years. :pig: The first cigar smoked tonight was a 98 followed by A Mar 06 paired with some Napa Valley vino.

The 98 Pre light: Perfect draw with a light woody tobacco aroma. Taste of faint tobacco, almost no pre-light taste.

1/3: Wow strong med to full body, lots of flavor. Coco, earth, nutty and pepper. Sweet aroma, floral notes on the palet with toast. Very complex!

2/3: A bit stronger with a mid pallet pepper tingle. Same earth woody flavors, Im getting some vegi flavor in it, no not vegemite hehe.

The final: Bitter sweet coco, nice tobacco flavors. Good burn, dark ash, and the finish was pretty clean.

The Mar 06: The draw is a bit forgiving compared to the 98. The scent has that great old fasioned habano smell , and the pre-light draw had flavors of sweet tobacco

1/3: Woody ash pepper flavor right off the bat. Wow lots of pepper, a bit spicy with white pepper. Not so great of an aroma, has a burn hay smell. Just got an ammonia hint in the nose, but overall great younger taste.

2/3: Sweet toasty tobacco flavor, just awesome i think i might like it better than the 98. The aroma got better. A few draws in i just got some fruit candy flavors, and now more of a caramel flavor.

The Final: Same as the 2nd but a bit harsher maybe due to the younger date. This cigar was definitely sweet and had that young flavor profile to it. For some reason i think i like this one better. it had that bite to it and was a bit more sweeter.

The wine definitely brought some of these flavors out. Overall the 98 was more complex, consistent and you can tell it was aged tobacco you were smoking. The 06 was great just fuller in flavor, maybe because oily smoke flavor. I would pick the 06 over the 98's right now. Both cigars were amazing but i did like the younger cigar better, good thing i have a half box left :D

Thanks for the review. I really enjoy reading the side by side comparisons of different vintages. The are really interesting. I'm surprised to how often reviews come back liking the more recent vintage better. I guess it wouldn't be surprising to Jimmy though...
