A great afternoon without Ken but his shoes were filled successfully by Guillaume all the way from China. Rob dug deep into the back of the humidor this week and pulled out this cigar that is ever so delicate and refined, but is it to everybody's tastes?

I'm really looking forward to trying some cigars this type of dimension... You're 100% right, they look very elegant. I might be bit of a young barbarian though

Also, I'm really looking forward to trying my zacapa as well, but must hold off for the silly season I guess.

Thanks for the review!

I would like to Thank Rob for showcasing a Thin Ring Gauge cigar, yet more importantly pointing out "How" to smoke a Thin Cigar. Slowly and with respect. Those that try to rush a Thin cigar will miss the flavors and complexity every time. Smoking slowly will greatly improve the smoking experience. The HDM Le Hoyo du Dauphin is a Great cigar and Thanks for bringing it back to my attention.

Like with the D-4 I want to thank the Czar team reintroducing the classics to some here unfamiliar Cuban heritage cigars outside the boundaries of the trendy. Cheers Mates, thanks for the review. - ;)

I have to say that I admire Smithy's perserverance through that cigar. If I was smoking a cigar that I felt rated an 81 half way through I probably would have dumped it. But to bounce back the way this one did, was really fantastic!

Oh boy....

Life is difficult on the deck :)!

We struggled finding the 'galera name' of this HdM Du Dauphin in the HSA vitolario.

We never found it...

Laguito No.2 it is, like Cohiba Corona Especial, Monte Especial 2, Vegueros 2...

Thanks for the wonderful time on the deck :D!

Love you guys!

Pres or Smithy how does this compare to the des Dieux??????

The des Dieux is one of my favourtie cigar without doubt, a little stronger and more honey sweetness in the des Dieux, but the du Dauphin is so well refined and balanced in its flavours you are forced to sit and study this cigar as it slowly presents its full range of flavours.

It improved even more after the review when I had to race off to the physio. I smoked it all the way there in the car and then stood outside the physio finishing it off (they were not happy with me). The back half of the cigar really impressed me immensely.

That seems to be such a rare occurrence these days, for a cigar to come back from ordinary to something you will remember for years within the space of a third.. Sounds like a great cigar.

Nice review of a wonderful cigar - enjoyed for many years - too bad that it is discontinued, along with many... :D

Still enjoying the ones from the nineties. Thank you for a great review, no offense to anyone (Rob's guide to smoking thing RGs is to be published immediately), but Guillaume is right on the point, IMHO! :)
