Lotus400 Posted September 8, 2009 Share Posted September 8, 2009 As has been discussed on this forum previously, the credibility of CI's ratings for new cigars is somewhat suspect. That being said, in the current issue the highest scoring cigar was the R & J Duke. The Trinidad T was far from Suckling's glowing review at the Festival earlier this year, Mag 48 and Bolivar did not impress the reviewers. I am hoping for improvement with proper aging, as I purchased the Trini Ts and Mag 48s. It will be interesting to see if Rob orders up a video review for the new releases so we can some get solid opinions from real cigar purists. I would post the scores, but that might be in poor form. Those that have purchased some or all of the new LEs and Trini Ts are hoping for encouraging words - no pressure Some wine boards get upset if you post content that is subscription based, so my reluctance to post scores. Those guys would not know a good cigar if someone stuck it up their collective arses and tickled their tonsils with it! I am sure that Cuban cigars don't hold a candle to the; Chisel, Wind Bag, Acrid Deelux, Volcanic Erection or any of the other hyped tripe that gets paid advertisement in that rag!!! Ken Gargett Posted September 11, 2009 Share Posted September 11, 2009 Trini T-88Prtit Beli-87 Mag 48-87 Duke-90 interesting scores. the trini is up, the mag 48 is about to be so no spoiler but i can say that there is a difference. we smoked the beli and duke - a couple actually - after we did the reviews (a very slow start wednesday) and i think i am away and missing next week so not a giveaway if for me, i say that the duke was my 2nd fave LE of 09 and the Beli 3rd. not that the beli was not an okay cigar but for an LE, one expected more. i suggested to rob that an interesting vid would be comparing the beli LE 09 with a normal beli. theoretically, the LE should win hands down but i would have grave doubts. the duke wasn't bad but for me, only one LE from 09 is really worth the LE name.
