Ken Gargett Posted August 28, 2009 Posted August 28, 2009 cocktail post got me wondering. anyone tried the new beefeater 24? apparently something special to compete with gins like tanq 10. personal faves are the tanq 10, hendricks, bombay (the basic more so than the sapphire).
bunburyist Posted August 28, 2009 Posted August 28, 2009 Not tried that yet - I'll have a look out for it tonight. Did you see the 24 website? 24 then look at the MM one...someone's been copying someone! Am interested though by the 24. Beefeater is generally considered to be at the lower end of the middle market, with drinks like Gordon's and Bombay in the middle, and as you say Tanq 10 and MM at the top. Clearly though this is aimed to compete at the top, so it should be nice and smooth. I love the complexity of gin, and a whilst a g&t isn't my favourite, I probably drink more of those than anything else in terms of spirits and mixers.
thechenman Posted August 28, 2009 Posted August 28, 2009 I've never been a big fan of gin...it is a little too floral for me.
dicko Posted August 28, 2009 Posted August 28, 2009 gins great. its pretty affordable compared to other spirits and there's a lot of consistency between brands quality wise, rarely get a doosy! hmm i do love the complexity of a good gin although i prefer the herbal style toned down slightly (bombay bit much on the nose straight for me) imho

cigargirl85 Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 Usually I drink Gordon's. Crisp yet smooth. Makes the perfect G&T as far as I'm concerned.
kcmontie Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 Ill put hendricks up against any other gin out there
perfectform Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 A Tanqueray Rangpur & Tonic is unbeatable on a hot summer day!
cigargirl85 Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 I see a gin-buying spree on the cards. I've never tried Tanqueray or Hendricks and I don't want to miss out...

samb Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 A Tanqueray Rangpur & Tonic is unbeatable on a hot summer day! I cant argue here.
stargazer14 Posted November 4, 2009 Posted November 4, 2009 I've posted before on my love of Hendricks, but wanted to add an awesome cocktail that i came across. My normal go-to drink is Kettle One (or Tito's*)& grapefruit, so I tried a Hendricks & grapefruit - this is really good! might not sound it, but give it a try, nothing like it. *Tito's is US made 'small batch' vodka, the bottle looks cheap, and the price is, but it is an EXCELLENT vodka and winning lots of awards. Dont be afraid of the plain brown label.
ChanceSchmerr Posted November 4, 2009 Posted November 4, 2009 A Tanqueray Rangpur & Tonic is unbeatable on a hot summer day! Seconded! I love Tanqueray Rangpur! I have a hard time believeing anyone could come up with a finer Gin than Tanqueray 10. South Gin from NZ made a valiant effort though!
